The site dates back to 2200 BC and the current structure was built around 350 BC. It is considered one of the best preserved temples in Egypt. The centerpiece of the site is the Temple of Hathor, built in 54 BC. This is an exquisite and large temple that is fun to visit. The paint on the ceiling is still intact after 2,000 years. For 2,000 years, a beautiful Chinese zodiac symbol was embedded in the ceiling, but it was seized by the French in 1820 and is now housed in the Louvre. A must-see attraction, highly recommended.
