Wat Ban Rai is located in Kut Phiman Subdistrict, Dan Khun Thot District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. It is famous because of Phra Thep Witthayakom, a famous monk who is respected by people all over the country. He used to be the abbot of Wat Ban Rai. This temple is also known to the general public because Luang Por Khun is a local monk who can reach people of all classes, from princes and politicians to the common people. He is very kind and popular. His teaching methods are straightforward and easy to understand. Currently, the Thep Witthayakom Hall in honor of His Majesty the King's 84th Birthday, which was just completed in 2011, has become an important highlight of Wat Ban Rai. It is a building with elephant sculptures located on a 30-rai pond. It is a 4-storey building, including 1 basement floor. The rooftop of the building is a statue of Luang Por Khun and the Lord Buddha. The total height is 42 meters. The building is located on a circular square with a diameter of approximately 65 meters, making the Thep Witthayakom Hall the largest Theravada Buddhist temple in Thailand.
