Intangible Cultural Heritage | My Experience Learning Tie-Dye from a Bai Grandmother in Dali

If there's one thing you can't miss in Dali, it's creating your own tie-dye artwork! Besides the magnificent scenery of Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake, don't forget to experience this thousand-year-old intangible cultural heritage craft. The location is super easy to find! It's right next to Jiang Gong Ci Shrine. This ancient building was once a shrine for a famous Qing Dynasty general, and now it has been transformed into the Dali Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Center. The afternoon sun fills the courtyard, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The temperature is just right this season, neither too cold nor too hot. The grandmother patiently guides you through each step. Even though I clumsily tied the cloth in a crooked manner, she still smiled and demonstrated again. The staff are super helpful, explaining everything from the history and culture to the technical details. You can create your own pattern or choose from the shop's classic designs. I absolutely love the finished artwork!
