In reality, Dali's urban area is no different from a second or third-tier city, although Dali does have a small ancient city. 🎈Misconception 2 about Dali: Thinking that Erhai Lake is not a very big lake. In fact, Erhai Lake is five times the size of Lugu Lake, a veritable "sea." It takes at least two days to tour around Erhai Lake. 🎈Misconception 3 about Dali: Thinking that Erhai Lake is very romantic and artistic, with a pedestrian walkway by the lake, sea-view rooms everywhere, and picture-perfect spots everywhere. In reality, the road along Erhai Lake is a highway, and a busy one at that. Most of the sea-view rooms you're looking for are separated from the lake by this highway (Shuanglang has real lakefront rooms, but the prices are outrageous), and most of the beautiful buildings and scenic spots require an entrance fee. 🎈🎈Despite these misconceptions, Dali is still worth spending a few days exploring: for example, visit the ancient city of Dali, climb Cangshan Mountain, see the Three Pagodas, tour around Erhai Lake, visit Xizhou Ancient Town, Shuanglang Ancient Town, Yang Liping's Sun Palace, Small Putuo, etc. You can also rent a convertible or a cute Wuling mini car to show off, which can be quite fun!
