Meizhou Huake Building | The "Number One Round Building in Guangdong" hidden in the deep countryside

As is well known, Meizhou is one of the typical Hakka cultural gathering places in Guangdong, adjacent to Zhangzhou and Longyan in Fujian, where many Hakka cultural heritages are scattered, and the Weilou (earthen buildings) are part of them. Huake Building, with a history of over 400 years, is an all-wood structure, identical to the Fujian earthen buildings, and is known on the internet as the same type of building as in the movie "Big Fish & Begonia". I first came to photograph it four years ago, and at that time, it was already in a state of being uninhabited and unrepaired, but fortunately, there were still villagers guarding it, allowing it to remain intact to this day. On my recent visit, it seemed to have received more protection, probably because the village has started to consciously carry out preservation work. If you want to visit the Huake Building for a Guangdong version of Big Fish & Begonia, you still need to be mentally prepared: -There is no public transportation or bus service from Meizhou city center to this place, you need to drive or take a taxi or join a tour group, which takes about 1.5 hours, be careful on the mountain roads, as they are quite narrow, and you need to drive cautiously; -Generally, you are not allowed to go above the second floor, because the wood is old and has not been repaired or replaced, which is quite dangerous, meaning that photography can only be done on the first floor, and those who can should bring a drone; -The surrounding area is a village with no other attractions, and there are few farmhouses, so it is advised to make your own dining arrangements.
