As locals commuted home, we leaned against the railings, watching the Jialing and Yangtze Rivers merge beneath us, their waters swirling like latte art. The skyline unfolded like a cinematic scroll: Hongyadong’s tiered lights,the neon-spangled bridges, and fog-kissed skyscrapers. To complete the vibe, we snacked on the ferry’s hot popcorn and crispy grilled sausages,slightly greasy, utterly delicious. As the breeze ruffled our hair and the engine hummed, we realized: this unassuming boat ride offered more soul (and better views)than any luxury cruise.
