Yuzhong District Luohan Temple (1)

Luohan Temple, located in Yuzhong District, Chongqing, was originally built during the Zhiping period of the Northern Song Dynasty (1064–1067) and was formerly known as Zhiping Temple. The temple was built because of the Luohan Cave. According to the "Records of Famous Scenic Spots in Sichuan," "Zhiping Temple... has two caves, Luohan and Xiantian, both ancient caves." In the 17th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1752), the front hall collapsed and was rebuilt as the Dragon God Shrine. Later, it was also called Luohan Temple and Ancient Buddha Cliff. Luohan Temple is one of the national key Buddhist temples and a national key cultural relic protection unit.
