A pilgrimage lasting over 800 years

In front of the altar, there are three Buddhas sitting cross-legged: The middle one is the Dharmakaya Buddha (Vairocana); the left one is the Sambhogakaya Buddha (Lushena); the right one is the Nirmanakaya Buddha (Sakyamuni). In front of the three Buddhas, there is a kneeling Bodhisattva with hands folded, who is the incarnation of the twelve Bodhisattvas of Enlightenment. The treatment of this incarnation is quite unique. Without it, it would be difficult to express the theme, and the composition would be reduced to a general one. Moreover, removing a Bodhisattva from any seat would result in an imperfect content and composition of the whole cave.
