See the paintings of the rulers of Chiang Mai | Wat Phan Tao

Located on Phra Pok Klao Road, next to Wat Chedi Luang, the original temple was the Ho Kham or the front audience hall of King Mahotarades. It is a local wooden building with a carved peacock doorway, a symbol of the northern lords, which looks exquisite and elegant. Wat Phan Tao is a very old temple in the city center. In the past, Chiang Mai people called this temple "Wat Pan Tao" (Thousand Times), which probably means that making merit once will bring a thousand times more merit. But later it was distorted to "Phan Tao". There is also another source that says that this temple used to be a source of hundreds of kilns to cast Buddha images, so it was called "Wat Phan Tao". However, the highlight of Wat Phan Tao must be the Wihan, which is the most beautiful and complete in Chiang Mai. The building is made entirely of teakwood in the Chiang Saen style. Originally, this Wihan was the Ho Kham or Khum Luang, the residence of King Mahotarades, the 5th ruler of Chiang Mai. Later, during the reign of King Inthawichanon (the 7th ruler), he ordered the Ho Kham to be demolished and given as the Wihan of Wat Phan Tao. Inside the Wihan, you will see an ancient raised pulpit that is over a hundred years old. And behind the Phra Wihan Ho Kham Luang is the main pagoda of the temple, shaped like a bell on an octagonal base, surrounded by beautiful pagodas. If you come during important Buddhist holidays, you will see the beauty of the temple illuminated by candles that are lit and decorated along the temple grounds. In addition, during February, the temple will transform a field of more than 3,000 tulips in full bloom in the garden and temple grounds for tourists to admire. Location: Located on Phra Pok Klao Road, Phra Singh Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province, near the Klang Wiang Intersection. Just turn left out of Wat Chedi Luang for 50 meters and you will see Wat Phan Tao on the left. #Travel around Thailand #Thailand #Missing nature #Thailand #Secret location #Waiting for the day to travel #Wat Phan Tao #Chiang Mai #Chiang Mai in the rainy season #Visit Chiang Mai #Beautiful temples around Thailand #7 lords #Northern lords #Paintings of northern lords #Beautiful places to take pictures #Chiang Mai is worth visiting #Chiang Mai review #Worship and ask for blessings #Merit-making #City center #Old town worth visiting #Beautiful temples in Thailand #Beautiful temples in Chiang Mai #Winter travel to the North #VisitChiangMai #VisitNorth #TravelNorth #TeamNorth #LetsTravel #WhereToGo
