วัดผาลาด Wat Pha Lat

This temple has a long history, having been founded around 1355 CE during the reign of King Ku Na of the Mangrai Dynasty. Legend has it that the spot where the elephant stopped served as a memorial for the construction of a chedi or temple. This was one of the stops for the transport of the sacred relics up Doi Suthep. ✨ Highlights & Attractions — An ancient Burmese-style chedi, distinguished by its structure, covered in moss, ferns, and natural moisture, offers a contemporary and natural blend. — A wooden vihara, built during the reign of Kruba Srivijaya by Burmese craftsmen, features intricately carved patterns on both the front and back of the vihara, featuring symbolic motifs such as peacocks and rabbits. — A small waterfall within the temple grounds, with a stream or small waterfall flowing through the temple grounds. The sound of the water creates a peaceful atmosphere and helps the mind feel more at ease in the forest. — Viewpoints & Nature Trails The path leading up to the temple leads through the forest, interspersed with trees of all sizes. Upon reaching the temple, you'll be greeted by a high vantage point overlooking Chiang Mai city. 🚶♂️ Access & Directions •— From Chiang Mai city, take the road up Doi Suthep, pass the Kruba Srivichai Monument, and turn onto the road up to Wat Phalat (about 5 kilometers from there). •— The path is steep in some sections, and some sources record the path as a semi-forest trail. If you want to avoid the long walk, you should bring comfortable walking shoes. •— There's an entrance from Channel 7 TV station, which marks the beginning of a nature trail, approximately 2 kilometers long, leading to Wat Phalat. From there, you can walk to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep (a total round trip of approximately 10 kilometers). 🕓 Recommended Visiting Times & Experiences — Try to arrive early (before noon) or late in the evening to enjoy beautiful natural light and avoid the heat. — Spend about 1–2 hours at the temple, strolling through the chedi, viharn, and listening to the sounds of the water. — If you stay until early morning You might experience the peaceful atmosphere of the temple before dawn. — Dress modestly (cover your shoulders and knees) and wear shoes that are easy to slip on and off. #GetDiscountsWithoutLuck

This trip to Chiang Mai was so much fun. We spent 4 days and 3 nights on this trip (I'll start by saying that I'm an introvert, so I chose the days and times I thought there would be fewer tourists, lol). 1. Start the trip by visiting Baan Kang Wat, a popular spot on TT. I recommend going around 10:00 AM when there aren't many people around, making it easier to take photos and avoiding people in the crowds. 2. Mae Ya Waterfall: We went during a storm and it was raining, but luckily, it wasn't raining too hard that day. Although the water wasn't as clear as it looked online, it was incredibly beautiful in person. 3. Huay Kaew Waterfall: There was no entrance fee when we went. We just walked a short distance and saw the waterfall. There were a lot of people sleeping by the stream, and the atmosphere was amazing. 4. Wat Pha Lat: It's so beautiful! The temple grounds are shady and peaceful. P.S. Honestly, I just wanted a change of scenery, lol. But since we were going all the way, I thought I'd give it a try. We found all 4 of these places on the spot, without any pre-planned plans. But I think it's nice not to have to plan anything. There's no pressure about where to go today. #ChiangMaiTravel #Natural attractions #House next to the temple #Mae Ya Waterfall #Huai Kaew Waterfall #Phalad Temple
