Later, Wat Chiang Yuen, meaning sustainable, was built. 🧱Since Wat Chiang Man is located within the inner city, when the city gates are closed, his subjects outside the city walls could reside at Wat Chiang Yuen for religious ceremonies. 📚Wat Chiang Yuen is a royal temple with an auspicious name, a symbol of Chiang Mai's power, as it was built in accordance with the city's geographic location and astrological beliefs. Highlights of the temple include: 🏠 The ordination hall, with its octagonal wooden pillars, is a beautiful Burmese architectural style. Inside, the principal Buddha image, Phra Sappanyu Chao Det Mueang, symbolizes great power and authority. Former Lanna rulers would pay homage before entering the city, during coronation ceremonies, and before and after wars for good fortune. 🛕 The octagonal Phra Borommathat Chiang Yuen Inside, the relics of the Lord Buddha are enshrined.
