Silver Ubosot: A Stunning and Priceless Gem of Chiang Mai

Wat Sri Suphan, located in the Wua Lai area of Chiang Mai, is an ancient temple built during the Mangrai Dynasty. Its most remarkable feature is the "Silver Ubosot," recognized as the first silver ordination hall in the world. This masterpiece was crafted by local artisans from the Wua Lai community, renowned for their silverwork craftsmanship. The ubosot is adorned both inside and out with intricate designs made from silver and aluminum alloy, creating a dazzling, reflective beauty. Within the temple grounds, visitors can also find Phra Chao Jed Tue, a revered and ancient Buddha statue highly respected by the locals. However, access to the Silver Ubosot is restricted to men due to the temple's regulations. Women are welcome to admire the exterior and explore the surrounding areas.
