Chengde's "Stabilizing Sea Needle" - Bangchui Mountain

Visit Chengde this winter and explore the famous Danxia Mountain. After several failed attempts to visit Qingchui Peak, I planned to climb Sengguan Peak on the third day of the Chinese New Year in 2025, but it was closed. Fortunately, Qingchui Peak was open, so I decided to visit it. The ticket was CNY 15. Qingchui Peak National Forest Park, also known as Bangchui Mountain, was called Shiting in ancient times. It is located in the suburbs of Chengde City, Hebei Province, with a total area of 10,600 hectares, about 2.5 km from the city center. It is divided into four scenic areas and is integrated with the Mountain Resort and the Eight Outer Temples. It is a national 4A-level tourist area. Qingchui Peak: Qingchui Peak has been around for about 3 million years. It stands tall and straight, reaching the sky, with a thick top and a thin bottom, resembling a laundry stick, hence the name Bangchui Mountain. Bangchui Mountain is 596.26 meters above sea level, with a stone stick 38.29 meters high, an average diameter of 15.04 meters at the top, a diameter of 10.27 meters at the bottom, a base height of 21.13 meters, a length of 38 meters, a width of 3-5 meters, a volume of 6,508 cubic meters, and a weight of about 16,200 tons. It is a world wonder. At a distance of 18 meters from the base of Qingchui Peak, there is a mulberry tree growing horizontally on the mountainside, which is over 300 years old, more than 3 meters high, and has a trunk diameter of more than 30 cm. Have you heard of the legend of the "Stabilizing Sea Needle"? Toad Stone: 500 meters south of Qingchui Peak, there is a natural protruding boulder called Toad Stone, about 20 meters long and 14 meters high, with a horizontal crack on the cliff. From a distance, it looks like a toad leaping into the blue sky, with its head raised, eyes bulging, and mouth slightly open.
