Revisiting Colonial Philippines' in Cebu

Cebu City has become one of the "modern" cities in The Philippines, almost comparable to the country's Capital, Manila. But somewhere in the city sprawling new and modern high-rise buildings still stand of traces of history and cultural heritage. A quick look at history: The Philippines was (accidentaly) discovered by Spain through the Portugese explorer, Ferdinand Magellan, in his quest for the Spice Island (Malacca). The rest was a 333 years of Spanish occupation which mostly shaped the Philippines until its post-war "Americanization", which is what you would mostly see in the country's big cities nowadays. Cebu is the perfect place to go to revisit the Philippines rich history and heritage. Old colonial houses, parks and plazas and old churches and ruins remained accessible for everyone to have a better appreciation and understanding of what and how the country become what it is today. #passionpassport
