This ancient Wa village, once known as "the last primitive tribe in China," is now embracing the world with a more composed attitude after its fiery trial in 2021. Walking along the newly paved volcanic stone road, the air is filled with the fragrance of pine wood. The rebuilt thatched cottages are faintly visible in the clouds and mist, and the bull head totems hanging from the eaves still exude a primitive mystery, making one feel as if stepping into a secret realm where time and space intersect. Modern Rebirth of a Primitive Tribe The three-hour bumpy mountain road drive from Lincang transforms into a worthwhile journey upon seeing the giant bull head wood carving in front of the village gate.
