Sometimes I skip the city entirely and spend the afternoon in Paddington and Rosalie, two charming inner suburbs that feel like secret villages. The streets are hilly and lined with classic Queenslander homes, while vintage shops and cosy cafés pop up everywhere. My usual route starts with brunch at Anouk, then browsing through antique stores before heading down to Rosalie Village for an evening drink. There’s always a laid-back crowd, and sunsets from Bartley’s Hill are beautiful. Brisbane isn’t just skyscrapers — the local neighbourhoods are full of character, and they never feel far away.
