Brașov Solo: Medieval Magic & Mountain Air

#mytraveldiary Step into a storybook in the heart of Transylvania. Brașov, with its cobblestone streets, Gothic spires, and backdrop of towering mountains, is a fairy-tale destination that’s both safe and thrilling for the solo traveler. Get ready for history, hiking, and hearty food. Your Perfect Brașov Itinerary: Day 1: Saxon History & Hollywood Signs · Morning: Dive into the Council Square (Piața Sfatului), the vibrant heart of the old town. Admire the colorfully baroque Council House and the looming Black Church (Biserica Neagră), the largest Gothic church in Southeastern Europe. · Afternoon: Take the short, scenic hike (or cable car) up to Tâmpa Mountain. The panoramic view of the city sprawled out below, with its iconic BRASOV sign, is an absolute must-do. · Evening: Wander down Strada Sforii (Rope Street), one of the narrowest streets in Europe. Find a traditional Romanian restaurant for a solo feast—order sarmale (cabbage rolls) and mămăligă (polenta). Day 2: Fortress Views & Castles · Morning: Catch a local bus to the stunning Bran Castle, often associated with the Dracula legend. Explore the castle's winding stairways and learn its real, fascinating history. · Afternoon: On your return, ask the bus driver to stop at Râșnov Fortress. Perched on a hill, this 13th-century peasant fortress offers incredible views and a less crowded historical experience. · Evening: Enjoy the lively atmosphere in the old town square. Grab a pastry, find a bench, and watch the world go by as the city lights illuminate the medieval architecture. Solo Traveller Tips: · Walk the Walls: Explore the remnants of the old fortification walls that once protected the city for a unique perspective. · Day Trips are Easy: Bran and Râșnov are very accessible via frequent and affordable buses from Brașov's Autogara 2 station. · Cafe Culture: Brașov is filled with charming cafes perfect for a solo coffee break while people-watching. Brașov is history, mystery, and breathtaking beauty. #solobrasov #transylvania

🏰 Brașov: The Heart of Transylvania

Restaurant Sergiana

My trip to Brașov, Romania, was an unforgettable experience. Getting there from the capital, Bucharest, was quick and easy — the train ride was comfortable and scenic. Once in Brașov, I explored the charming old town with its colorful buildings, the Black Church, and the lively Council Square. I also took the cable car up to Tâmpa Mountain for a stunning view over the city. One of the highlights was spending an afternoon at Parc Aventura — a fun and challenging place with zip lines and rope courses in the forest. After all the excitement, I had a delicious traditional Romanian meal at Sergiana, a cozy and popular restaurant. Brașov is a perfect mix of history, nature, and adventure, and it's a destination you simply can’t miss when visiting Romania.
