The people’s park of Friedrichshain

Volkspark Friedrichshain is Berlin's oldest public park and the fourth largest. It was constructed in 1840 in conjunction with the centennial of the ascension of Frederick the Great's to the Prussian throne. It is a popular urban park of the residents of Prenzlauer Berg and Friedrichshain but is also accessible using the Berlin public transport. There is also an open air cinema (Freiluftkino Friedrichshain) in the park but only open in the warmer months of the year. Other features of the park includes the fairy tale fountain, a restaurant serving Austrian cuisine, a skateboard park, pirate-themed playground, historical monuments dedicated to fallen soldiers, etc. #fallingforfall #berlin
