Belfast Castle – Best Visited at Sunset

Belfast Castle is a must-visit, not just for its historical charm but also for the breathtaking views it offers. While it’s a great spot any time of the day, I highly recommend visiting around sunset. The castle sits on the slopes of Cave Hill, overlooking the city, and as the sun sets, the panoramic view of Belfast bathed in golden light is simply stunning. It’s a perfect time for photography or just enjoying a peaceful moment away from the city’s bustle. Getting there is quite convenient, as there are frequent buses from the city center. However, one thing to note—Google Maps can be misleading when it comes to the bus stop. If you’re taking public transport, make sure to get off at “Belfast Castle” stop, rather than the last two stops on the route. If you get off too late, you’ll end up at the wrong entrance and have to walk up via the back driveway, which is less scenic and more of a hassle. Once at the castle, you can explore the beautifully maintained gardens, the charming architecture, and the nearby walking trails. And if you have time, a short hike up Cave Hill offers even more incredible views.
