Yesterday I just went to the Baili Landscape Gallery, which is suitable for cycling, mountain running, and camping

It's been a while since I last visited Baili Gallery. After all, a round trip is 200~300 kilometers, this distance is enough to leave Beijing. But recently, it’s been raining constantly in Beijing and the surrounding areas. I couldn’t go to Zhangbei Grassland or Weixian either. Finally, on a weekend, I didn’t want to stay home and get moldy, so I braved it and went to Yanqing to stroll around Baili Gallery. This area is already considered the outer suburbs and requires a full day. The route is shown in picture 1. Pictures 2~18 were taken yesterday. It was partly cloudy and cool, but not very photogenic. Baili Landscape Gallery One-Day Tour Guide Besides the pictures, I’ll add a few points: 1. Overview first The black line is the round-trip route, over 100 kilometers one way. The blue line is the Baili Gallery self-driving route, over 40 kilometers in total. The green area is the Baili Gallery region. 2. Time arrangement The round trip takes about 2 hours one way. You can spend about 3~4 hours playing inside Baili Gallery. 3. Round-trip routes There are 3 routes: A, B, and C. Route A is more complex, with many bends and more cars. Cangmi ancient road is narrow and sharp-turning, but fortunately has fewer cars. Ansi Road has many motorcyclists running the mountain. Both roads are very suitable for self-driving. You can stop and go along the way, but pay attention to safety. So it’s recommended to take this route in the morning when you’re in good condition. Route B is for when you’re tired of playing and want to return early. This route starts from the visitor center. Liu Gan Road is 21 kilometers long and also a sharp-turn mountain road. Route C is the complete route through Baili Gallery. It mainly includes more views of Baihebao Reservoir. There is a Yanshan Tianchi viewing platform nearby, but the trees are too dense to see anything. Routes B and C both converge onto Changchi Road, passing Yongning Town, Dazhuangke Township, and the Ming Tombs. There are many cyclists on the Dazhuangke section. 4. Playing in Baili Gallery The whole route is not long, barely 50 kilometers, hence the name Baili (Hundred Li). It’s all in the canyon, and the scenic road doesn’t require mountain crossing. But the main traffic to and from is on mountain roads. It’s much more regulated now. You can no longer park casually by the roadside; barriers have been installed. Previously, people parked anywhere and camped in the woods. So: ① It’s harder to stop anytime on the main road for photos or camping. Usually, side roads are okay, for example, the section from 5 to 7. Luan-Chi New Road is the main road and not easy to park on. But the southern Luan-Chi Old Road, passing through Xiushui Bay, allows parking anytime and has fewer cars. I saw quite a few people hiking here. ② In picture 1, the green background marks 3 entrances and exits. The blue background marks relatively well-known landmarks and attractions in Baili Gallery. You don’t have to pay to enter several paid attractions. Also, Chaoyang Temple and Wulong Gorge are not open yet. The petrified wood is not much to see. ③ Henan Flower Sea is quite nice. Different flowers bloom in different seasons. Yesterday I saw a large patch of small yellow flowers. ④ Some official parking lots have been built along the road. At the visitor center, petrified wood, and several scenic spots, parking costs ¥2/15 minutes. There are often free spots nearby, but you have to walk a bit. ⑤ There are many farmhouses by the roadside, so no worries about food and lodging. Also, Yongning Town and Qianjiadian both have gas stations. For self-driving and mountain running, this route plus the big round trip connecting Yanqing, Huairou, and Changping is a very worthwhile loop to drive. PS. Today I’m at Miaofeng Mountain, Mentougou.
