📍Address: Sanlihe Park is located 50 meters east of the intersection between Nanlucaoyuan Hutong and Qunzhi Hutong in Dongcheng District. 📌The formation of Qianmen Sanlihe dates back to the Zhengtong period of the Ming Dynasty. According to the Ming Dynasty's "Records of Rivers and Canals": "There was originally no river source in the southern city's Sanlihe area. During the Zhengtong era, when the city moat was being repaired, concerns about excessive rainwater led to the digging of a drainage outlet in the low-lying land southeast of Zhengyang Bridge, giving rise to the name Sanlihe." In 1437, the Sanlihe water system emerged as a flood drainage channel for the southern city. Residents settled along the river, with theaters and guild halls gathering here, creating a scene reminiscent of Jiangnan water towns. It became one of Beijing's old city areas richest in historical and cultural heritage. Over time, however, the Sanlihe river course gradually faded from history, and its former prosperity disappeared. 🌈In recent years, to preserve the memory of the old city and restore its original fabric, Dongcheng District initiated a comprehensive renovation and enhancement of Qianmen Sanlihe. The project restored the historical river course's location and direction, blending hutong neighborhoods, courtyard houses, and the natural environment. During the renovation, some old trees were preserved, and wood and stone materials from former courtyards were repurposed in the river course's construction. This not only improved the river and surrounding environment but also recorded the city's imprints over the past century, recreating the historical scene of water winding through streets and alleys around Qianmen.
