More than just the Sacred Tree! Recommended healing parks in Beijing for family outings Photos taken in early September last year. Purple Bamboo Park has gained popularity in recent years, largely thanks to the Sacred Tree. However, the park's beauty extends far beyond this iconic tree. In summer, the park is a lush green oasis (lotus flowers bloom in July and August), while autumn brings a vibrant palette of colors (I previously shared photos of the autumn scenery). Every step offers a picturesque view that is truly soothing for the eyes and soul. This park is a serene escape from the concrete jungle, allowing you to temporarily forget your worries. Spending a weekend here with kids—feeding pigeons, spotting cats, or taking a boat ride—are all great ways to relax. I usually wander around the park without a fixed route, not aiming for specific check-in spots, and simply take photos of whatever catches my eye. This post is just to share the beauty I’ve discovered. Park Overview: Purple Bamboo Park is located near the West 3rd Ring Road. Established in 1953, it was named after the Ming and Qing dynasty temple in its northwest area, which bears the inscription "Buddha's Blessing on Purple Bamboo Park." The park is intersected by the South Long River and Shuangzi Canal, forming a landscape of three lakes, two islands, one embankment, one river, and one canal. It’s a naturalistic garden featuring dense groves of bamboo, with thousands of emerald-green stalks creating a scenic bamboo-dominated environment. Admission: Free Transportation: Parking here is quite challenging! The East Gate and Southwest Gate have limited parking spaces, which are especially hard to find on weekends. East Gate: Take Metro Line 4, 9, or 16 to National Library Station, or buses like 86 or 92. South Small Gate: Take buses like 87 or 114 to Baishiqiao West Station. Southwest Gate: Take buses like 87 or 114 to Purple Bamboo Park South Gate Station.
