Great Hall of the People

I have been working in Beijing for more than two years. I have passed by Tiananmen Square so many times but never thought of visiting the Great Hall of the People. This time I saw the building up close and was amazed by its layout and decoration. The glazed tile elements of the Forbidden City are continued on the eaves, combined with Greek beams and columns. The overall space takes space utilization more into consideration compared to the old era! What surprised me most was that, apart from the Ten Thousand People Hall used for conferences, there is actually a hall designed for each province. Each room is gorgeous yet simple. A closer look at each calligraphy and painting reveals a unique Chinese beauty. It is worthy of being a meeting hall for a big country, with a large layout and high artistic attainments!
