Hidden Gem Roast Duck Restaurant for May Day - Skip the Queues!

I visited this roast duck restaurant with a friend on Friday night and had a surprisingly satisfying experience. The restaurant is spacious, not crowded, and we were seated immediately without having to queue, which is a huge plus for weekend outings! 🧾We ordered the 183 RMB two-person set meal: ▫️Half a roast duck ▫️Crispy Pork Pot ▫️Qianlong Cabbage ▫️Two cups of Steamed Pear Soup The roast duck was roasted and sliced fresh, with crispy skin and tender meat. Dipped in sweet bean sauce and wrapped in green pancakes made with vegetable juice, it wasn't greasy at all. Half a duck was enough for two people. Qianlong Cabbage is a northern Chinese dish with a strong sesame paste flavor. As someone from the south, I wasn't used to it at first, but it surprisingly paired well with the roast duck. The Crispy Pork Pot was unexpectedly large, and it was incredibly comforting to drink the soup before eating the meat. It was a pleasant surprise in the set meal. Special mention to the fast serving speed! We started enjoying our meal within ten minutes of being seated. The Steamed Pear Soup wasn't overly sweet, which was perfect for my slightly sore throat. It was so soothing! 🪶For those visiting Beijing during May Day and craving Peking duck, take my advice—don't get hung up on authenticity. You don't have to go to those overcrowded internet-famous restaurants. My suggestion is always: choose a place nearby, with a comfortable environment, and reasonable prices. The taste is generally similar across most places. 👉Plus, their service was excellent, very welcoming from the moment we entered to when we left. (It's very close to Chaoyang Joy City, so we could go shopping afterward, which was a bonus!)
