Zhengyangmen

The Zhengyangmen Gate Tower, completed in the fourth year of the Ming Zhengtong Emperor's reign, is one of the important buildings at the southern end of Beijing's central axis in Tiananmen Square. In the twenty-sixth year of the Qing Guangxu Emperor's reign, the Eight-Nation Alliance invaded Beijing, and the gate tower was burned down. It was repaired and completed between 1901 and 1906. 📍Address: Located at the north end of Qianmen Street in Dongcheng District, at the south end of Tiananmen Square. 🚗Transportation: Subway: Take Subway Line 2 or Line 8 to Qianmen Station, and exit from Exit B, C, or E. Walk to the destination. Bus: Take Rapid Bus Line 1, Bus No. 2, 5, 22, 82, 93, 137, 599, 622, etc., to Qianmen and walk to the destination. ⏳Visit Duration: The entire gate tower has four floors. According to the museum's setup, you need to visit each floor from the first floor upwards, which takes about 40 minutes to 1 hour. 🎟️Tickets: The Zhengyangmen Gate Tower has been open to the public since December 26, 2024. It is currently in a trial operation phase, and admission is free. Opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (last entry at 4:30 pm). Closed on Mondays (except for public holidays). Reservations are required through the official WeChat account "Beijing Central Axis Heritage Protection Center." Tickets are released daily at 5:00 pm, and you can book tickets for the next 7 days. The quota is limited, and booking for weekends requires quick action. 💗Other Tips: 1. You need to enter through the north gate, swipe your ID card for security check, and store your bags. 2. Restrooms are located on the first floor, on the right-hand side after entering. 3. Climbing the gate tower requires ascending many steps, so please watch your step. 4. Free guided tours are available, and you can visit with volunteers. 5. There is a small house at the exit, which is the cultural and creative area of Zhengyangmen. There are not many products, including postcards, cups, fridge magnets, canvas bags, etc.
