Commune by the Great Wall | What is it like to stay at the foot of the Great Wall?

We visited the "Shuiguan Great Wall" and stayed at a hotel where you can see the Great Wall from your bed, the Hyatt's [Commune by the Great Wall] 🏨 The Commune is located in the northern mountains and forests and is a contemporary architectural artwork designed and built by 12 outstanding Asian architects. It was invited to participate in the Venice Biennale in 2002 and won the "Special Prize for Promoting Architectural Art." The award-winning buildings include the "Red House," "Bamboo House," etc. However, the original buildings have been protected and are no longer open to the public. The road they are on is called the "Architectural Art Corridor" by the hotel. We stayed in a replica of the "Red House," which has four rooms in one building and a large shared living room on the second floor, making it perfect for a weekend with friends. We stayed for two days, and on the second day, we were the only family there. The house was so big that it felt a little lonely. 🤣 The hotel used to have a path leading to the section of the Great Wall within the hotel, which was why I booked the hotel, but it was later closed for safety reasons. Fortunately, the hotel is within walking distance of the entrance to the Shuiguan Great Wall, and it only takes a few minutes to drive there. We were also given weekday tickets when we checked in. The food at the Hyatt is still guaranteed, and the breakfast is quite rich. We had roast duck and hot pot for dinner on two days, which are the two things we like to eat when we travel to Beijing. The Children's Commune is my favorite place, and we went to the Great Wall in the morning for two days and spent the afternoon at the Children's Commune. We went in April, and the weather was not warm enough, so the pool was not open, and the scenery was still a bit bare. It will be beautiful in the summer when the trees are lush and in the fall when the maple leaves are all over the place. Hiking in the Commune is also very comfortable.
