The temple on Yinshan Mountain was first built during the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty. Since the Yuanhe period of Emperor Xianzong of Tang, famous monks and Zen masters from various dynasties have come here. After the Zen masters and novice monks passed away, pagodas were built within the Fahua Zen Temple and at the foot of Yinshan Mountain according to their rank and status in Buddhism. These pagodas, where their remains were cremated and stored, collectively form the 'Yinshan Pagoda Forest.' Currently, there are 17 existing pagoda tombs of varying sizes and heights, with the tallest being over 20 meters high and about 7 meters in diameter, while the shortest are only two to three meters high. From the design of the pagodas, they can be roughly divided into two categories: dense-eaves pagodas and stupa-style pagodas. Besides these two types, there is also a combination-style pagoda that integrates both designs, making it a unique masterpiece in the pagoda forest.
