After waiting for two weeks, I finally got the good weather in Beijing, and the ginkgo leaves at Yanxi Palace have all turned yellow! The ginkgo trees I photographed at the Forbidden City two weeks ago looked gray and white due to the lack of light and the heavy smog. With the blessing of light and shadow this week, the atmosphere of the photos was immediately captured, and I finally saw the warm side of the Forbidden City. Those who want to see Yanxi Palace should hurry up. 1️⃣ Lighting tips: ✨ There are two ginkgo trees in Yanxi Palace, and the one to the east is not in good condition this year. In the morning, the sunlight shines on the tree to the east, and you can take a photo of both trees together; after noon, the sunlight moves to the west side, and you can take a photo of the western tree alone, which has a strong autumn atmosphere. ✨ Move your position and use a tree or eaves to block part of the sunlight to capture the starburst effect, which adds a lot to the photo. 2️⃣ Must-photograph spots sharing: ✨ The palace lanterns outside the corridor of Yanxi Palace, get close to it, squat down, and you'll find a pleasant surprise! ✨ Take backlit photos of the two ginkgo trees inside the palace. ✨ Go behind the Lingzhuo Xuan (Western-style building) and shoot the ginkgo trees through the window panes to add depth to the picture. ✨ Use a telephoto lens to capture various details, open the aperture a bit more, and blur the ginkgo leaves a bit to use as a background, which looks better.
