The Origin of European Gardens: The Italian Terrace Garden

The 'Italian Terrace Garden' is located in the European scenic area of Beijing World Park, and it is the first landscape inside the park's main entrance (East Gate). The Italian Terrace Garden developed during the 15th to 17th centuries. Due to the Italian peninsula being surrounded by sea on three sides and having many mountainous areas, its architecture is built on the slopes of hills, facing the sea with mountains behind. In front, a central axis leads out to terraces arranged in layers, complemented by platforms, pools, fountains, statues, etc., with plants planted on both sides of the central axis. The terrace garden in World Park is built on a 1:1 scale, with symmetrical positions along the central axis equipped with fountains, stone statues, and flower beds.
