Batu Caves: A Hindu Pilgrimage Site in Kuala Lumpur

Batu Caves, located north of Kuala Lumpur, is a limestone hill with natural caves. Hindus built a temple within the natural water curtain at the top, making it a renowned Hindu shrine. Many Indians worship here. Near the stairway entrance stands a massive Hindu statue, which becomes increasingly impressive the closer you get. The surrounding area is also filled with Hindu decorations, a truly unique experience, attracting many people for photos. To reach the top of the cave, pilgrims must first climb the 272-step Rainbow Stairs. The steps are infested with wild monkeys and pigeons, so be careful as they might snatch food. We even got a close look at a mother monkey carrying a baby monkey. The area was cleaner than I expected, and the smell wasn't too strong. Many Hindus even crawled barefoot to worship, demonstrating their devotion. The caves are quite humid, and while the natural breeze cools things down a bit, I recommend bringing water and being mindful of the hot weather.
