Pay respect to the 900-year-old Guan Yin at Thian Fah Hospital

Thian Fah was established as the first private foundation and hospital in Thailand. It is the first registered charity foundation in Thailand. It has been in operation for over a hundred years. Thian Fah Foundation Hospital is a non-profit organization with the objective of providing medical services, both traditional Chinese medicine and modern medicine. It was established during the reign of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) in 1903 and completed in 1905. It was formed by the gathering of Chinese people from five local dialects with the aim of helping the poor who could not afford medicine at that time. They provided both modern and traditional Chinese treatments and have maintained their roots to this day. In front of the hospital, there is a beautiful golden statue of the Bodhisattva Guanyin, approximately 800-900 years old, from the Song Dynasty. It is a statue carved from sandalwood and painted entirely in gold. In 1958, it was brought from China and has been enshrined until today. This shrine is open 24 hours a day and is popular among Thais and Chinese people who come to pray for good health, especially during the Chinese New Year.
