Michelin-starred chicken rice, a legend for over 40 years

🏘 Today we had the opportunity to eat Khao Man Kai at Montien Hotel Surawong Bangkok, a legendary Khao Man Kai that has received many awards, including Michelin 2019-2020 Wongnai Users’ Choice. 🏠 The atmosphere of the restaurant has been renovated, is more spacious and modern, and there is a corner for customers to sit and wait inside. The staff provided a warm welcome. 🍗 Let’s start with the first menu item, the legendary Khao Man Kai. Everyone who comes here must order it. We ordered 1 set, 1 cup of rice, 1 large plate of chicken thigh, 1 cup of winter melon soup, and 4 types of dipping sauces (1/2 soybean sauce, galangal sauce, sweet soy sauce). The restaurant’s rice is soft and fragrant, and the chicken comes in thick, full pieces. It goes well with the sauce. Overall, it is worth the price. 🍜 Another menu item that I would like to recommend is the turnip cake, a menu that reminds me of my childhood. It tastes just like my grandmother’s cooking, which is hard to find nowadays. 🍝 The Emperor’s Rad Na is another menu item that we ordered. The first thing we saw was that the plate was very large. There are 3 big shrimps and many other ingredients. The taste of the Rad Na is well-rounded. If you like spicy food, the shop will provide separate condiments. 🥟 The dim sum here is just as delicious as anywhere else. We ordered the Xiao Long Bao (recommended by the staff). It tasted good, the soup was well-rounded, and the dough was thin. Don't miss the pork dumplings. The filling is full and topped with caviar. The last item is the salted egg lava bun. The dough is soft and the filling is oozing. The filling is oily, salty, well-rounded, fragrant, and delicious. 😀 If you want to try the legendary Hainanese Chicken Rice, you can try it at both the Surawong and Riverside branches.
