Worship Phra Phuttha Yom Lok and admire the mural paintings

🏘 Wat Bang Khun Thian Nok was built around 1703 during the late Ayutthaya period. Originally named Wat Yom Lok, it is located at the junction where Bang Khun Thian Canal meets Khlong Dan. Nearby are Wat Bang Khun Thian Klang and Wat Bang Khun Thian Nai, situated in sequence. 🧍♂️🧍♀️ According to legend, a wealthy man collaborated with his sister to build a temple. After its completion, the elder brother reserved the Kathin ceremony for himself without informing his sister. Upset by this, the sister refused to lend any equipment for the merit-making event and ordered a canal to be dug, dividing the jointly built temple into two. The elder brother's temple became Wat Bang Khun Thian Nok, while the sister's temple became Wat Bang Khun Thian Klang. Key attractions within the temple include: 🏠 The ordination hall (Ubosot): The front and back feature a roof with extended eaves, known as "Chan Hap," surrounded by a glass wall with four entrance arches. At each corner stands a slender pagoda, likely built during the early Rattanakosin period. The gable is devoid of decorative elements like Cho Fa, Bai Raka, or Hang Hong, but is adorned with Chinese-style glazed tiles depicting natural scenes, reflecting the royal preferences during King Rama III's reign. 🙏🏽 Inside the ordination hall, the principal Buddha image, Phra Phuttha Yom Lok, is enshrined alongside several other Buddha statues from the Ayutthaya period and King Rama III's era.
