🏘 Wat Ratchawarind was built around 1717 during the late Ayutthaya period. The name and history of its founder remain unknown. It is commonly referred to as Wat Sam Rae due to its proximity to Sam Rae Canal and the abundance of Sam Rae trees in the past. During the early Rattanakosin period, the name was changed to Wat Ratchawarind, presumably named after the person who renovated the temple, holding the title Phra Ya Ratchawarind.
