#WinterTravel Wat Saket Ratcha Wora Maha Wihan or Wat Saket or also known as Wat Phu Khao Thong is an ancient temple since the Ayutthaya period. It used to be called Wat Sakae. Later, King Rama I ordered the renovation and digging of a canal around the temple and gave it a new name, Wat Saket, which means washing the hair. This is because this temple used to be a place for the Phra Krayasan (bathing) ceremony when he returned from Cambodia to quell the rebellion in Thonburi and ascended the throne in 1782. The Phra Borommathat or Phu Khao Thong is like a symbol of Wat Saket, making this place well-known. King Rama III ordered the construction of Phu Khao Thong as a religious site in the capital, similar to when the old capital had Wat Phu Khao Thong. There are 344 steps up the stairs to Phu Khao Thong. When you reach the top, you must pay homage to the principal Buddha image.
