Visit Wat Chalor and admire the boat-shaped ordination hall modeled after the Suphannahong Royal Barge

🏡 Wat Chalor was established around 1732 during the Ayutthaya period. King Borommakot traveled along the Chao Phraya River and through the Bang Kruai Canal, where he deemed this location suitable for building a temple. 🏞 In the past, a Chinese junk ship sank in the area, causing the death of many crew members. It was believed to be a haunted site. During the temple's construction, various obstacles arose. The King dreamt of an elderly Chinese man suggesting that the ordination hall should be built in the shape of a junk ship to counteract the bad luck. Thus, the ordination hall was constructed in this unique shape, and the temple was named Wat Chalor. 🏚 Later, Wat Chalor was abandoned until monks began residing there during the reign of King Rama III or King Rama IV. Key attractions within the temple include: 🏠 The ordination hall, designed as the world's largest Suphannahong Royal Barge, was constructed in 1983. Phra Khru Nonthapanyawimon envisioned a royal barge floating in front of the old ordination hall, inspiring its creation. 🏚 The old ordination hall, built in 1757, features brick and plaster construction within a sacred wall. It has a traditional Thai design with a curved base resembling a junk ship.
