Scenic Rock Pool: Angel's Billabong

Today's post brings everyone to the Island of Gods, Bali. Specifically, to a smaller island a stone's throw away: Nusa Penida. Nusa Penida is a hot favourite as one of the many island destinations from Bali, and has many breathtaking beaches and sites to see. One of its most famous attractions is Angel's Billabong, on the west coast of the island. A 'billabong' is a part of a river that forms a stagnant pool. This billabong is named 'Angel's Billabong' as local legend has it that an angel once came to bathe in it. You may think of this as a natural infinity pool that washes out into the sea, and is intimidating yet super beautiful at the same time. It is possible to swim in the rock pool here, but be extra careful as the rock formations are steep and sharp, and the waves can be unforgiving during high tide - accidents have happened before. If you're not a daredevil, admiring the formations and scenery are enough! Don't forget to take lots of Instagrammable pictures. Tips for visiting Angel's Billabong: 1. Go as early as you can to avoid crowds. 2. Swim at your own risk, and only during low tide. 3. Wear comfortable shoes and bring lots of water and sunscreen. 4. Hire a private driver if you are not confident using a bike, as the roads are quite underdeveloped.
