Capella Ubud in Bali has been named the best hotel in the world in 2020 in the prestigious annual list of The World's Best Awards version of Travel + Leisure magazine. What's going on there? Quoted on the official Capella Hotels website, the hotel and resort theme is inspired by early 1800s European settlers designed by architect Bill Bensley in 2018. Bensley is an architect who graduated from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, United States. He spent his childhood camping so building an inn with a tent feel was his longtime wish. This architect also has a studio in Bali which he founded in 1990. Capella Ubud is one of the luxury hotels designed by Bensley in addition to the Intercontinental Hotel, Danang, Vietnam. Located in Keliki Village, Tegalalang District, this hotel has five types of rooms and offers 22 luxury villas in the jungle of Ubud. Even though it is located in the middle of the forest, this best hotel in the world is actually equipped with luxurious facilities such as indoor and outdoor gyms, Jacuzzi pools to spas When viewed, this hotel looks like a tree house which is equipped with a beautiful view of the river to the expanse of rice fields and large trees that surround the hotel. Capella Ubud resort also has several restaurants, namely Mads Lange, Api Jiwa, The Mortar and Pestle Bar and The Camp Fire. On his personal website, Bensley said that the construction of Capella Ubud mostly used the services of local craftsmen. Each villa uses the finest teak wood that can last decades. The teak wood floor is said to be made by wood craftsmen from Central Java. The work on Balinese carved doors also involves local artists.
