【Sky Castle】Civita di Bagnoregio

Known as the "dying town," this beautiful city has a history spanning over 2,500 years. However, due to the erosion of the plateau's edges, the buildings are at risk of collapse, earning it the nickname "dying town." It is also said to resemble the castle from "Castle in the Sky" (Laputa), making it increasingly popular among Japanese tourists in recent years. Located about two hours by car from Rome, optional tours are available, making it a recommended destination for those visiting Rome. The town itself is very small and can be explored in about 30 minutes. However, the journey to get there involves steep paths and strong winds, making it quite challenging. Since the temperature is slightly lower than in other areas, bringing a jacket is advisable. We parked our car in the town of Bagnoregio and walked from there. Exploring Bagnoregio before heading to Civita is also recommended.
