Run with history at the Panathenaic Stadium

Steeped in history, Athens is a cultural masterpiece. And one place to be toured is the fascinating panathenaic stadium, located on the site of an Ancient Greek stadium. The original was built in 330 BC with the second being built in 144 CE. This second structure was excavated in 1869, and it is this that forms the basis of the modern structure in place today. To say it’s nothing short of fascinating is an understatement. The marble stones used in its construction is beautiful by nature. This stadium was the trailblazer for many of the stadia constructed in the western world throughout the early 20th Century. The real draw here though, is to be able to walk - or run, as the case may be - in the footsteps of our ancestors. The track is open for walking and wandering around. You can’t help but go for a jog, run or sprint here.
