The Ancient Agora, a Meeting Place

These are the ruins of the agora, an assembly hall built by the ancient Romans, located right next to Monastiraki Square. It appears to have been used as a complex with a variety of facilities, including a conference hall, a library, and religious facilities such as a temple. It is said that Socrates also visited it. As such a complex, there are various ruins within its large grounds. The grounds also include a museum with the Portico of Attalos, which displays excavated items.
