Arrowtown - the golden township in NZ South Island

#aprilblooms Arrowtown is a natural and historical place, with hills and rivers teeming with gold mines a century and a half ago, now a mecca for hikers and cyclists. Arrowtown's history dates back to the 19th century, when Europeans first explored and settled in New Zealand. When the gold mines were almost depleted, Europeans moved to other areas, forcing the Otago government to invite Chinese miners living in Australia to work in the area to stimulate the declining economy. The Chinese came together to form a migrant worker community and became part of the town's history. That's why there is a place in the town called Arrowtown Chinese Settlement, a reconstruction of Chinese houses.#travel
