The loyal Akita

Akita breed (秋田犬）was developed in early 17th century in the Akita prefecture of northern Japan. It is known for its courageous, clever, compassionate, and most importantly, loyal nature. Akita is very special to Japanese. When a child is born, the parents may receive an Akita figurine for happiness and longevity. The famous loyal Akita of the 1920’s named Hachiko (忠犬八公）is among Japan’s most cherished symbols. Helen Keller was the first American that brought this breed (a gift) to USA. There is a display of Akita inside the train station. There’s a park called Senshu in this city. It is also a popular place to watch red maples.
