Mallorca surprised me with how much there is to see away from the typical beach resorts. Think historic mountain towns, cobbled streets, little bakeries, cafés hidden between stone buildings and some incredible coastal scenery. If you’re planning a trip, these are a few stops I’d definitely add to the itinerary 👇 🚋 Sóller One of the most charming towns on the island. Walk around the historic centre, explore the smaller streets and watch the iconic wooden tram pass through town. The area around Plaça de la Constitució is especially beautiful. 📸 Don’t miss: · The historic Sóller tram · Plaça de la Constitució · The streets around the old town · Local shops and markets · A slow wander with no particular route — some of my favourite spots were the ones we simply came across 🌿 Valldemossa Possibly one of the prettiest villages in Mallorca. Stone houses, green shutters, plants everywhere and narrow cobbled streets make the whole village feel incredibly picturesque. 🥐 Stop at Ca’n Molinas A traditional bakery in Valldemossa and a great place to take a break. If you visit, try a coca de patata, the soft potato bun Valldemossa is famous for. ☕ Take time for the cafés One thing I loved about these villages was how easy it was to find little terraces and cafés tucked beneath the trees. Mallorca is definitely a place where slowing down is part of the experience. 🌊 And of course… the coast Save some time for Mallorca’s coves and beaches. After exploring the villages, ending the day by the Mediterranean is hard to beat. A few Mallorca tips · 🚗 Renting a car makes exploring the villages and coastline much easier · ⏰ Visit popular towns earlier in the morning if you want quieter streets · 🥐 Try local food instead of only sticking to the tourist restaurants · 📍 Don’t rush through Sóller and Valldemossa just for photos, they’re much nicer when you give yourself time to wander Mallorca really is much more than just beaches. 💛 #Mallorca #MallorcaSpain #VisitMallorca #Soller #Valldemossa #SpainTravel #MallorcaTravel #EuropeTravel #TravelGuide #TravelInspiration #HiddenEurope

#worthitomot #Mallorca #SonMarroig #SaForadada I drove the Ma-10 from Valldemossa to Son Marroig at 8 am, parked in the estate lot (free), and paid €4 for the Casa Museo—Archduke Ludwig Salvator’s 19th-c. rooms, period furniture, and a Carrara marble rotunda framing the sea toward Sa Foradada. The pierced rock (18 m hole punched through a 400 m peninsula) is visible from the terrace for €0 if you skip the museum. I chose the hike: 6.7 km round trip, 260 m descent/ascent, 2.5–3h, free, down a stony path the Archduke built, past olive terraces and a donkey or two, to the base of Sa Foradada where a seasonal paella shack takes cash only (€14 plate). Mistake: I started at 11 am in June and the climb back cooked me—2 L water was barely enough, and the gravel is ankle-rolling without boots. Another mistake: thinking the beach near the rock is sandy; it’s flat rock shelves, great for a dip but bring reef shoes. The boat from Port de Sóller (€25 return) is the lazy alternative. Worth it? Yes if you want Tramuntana without the Deià crowds—the €4 museum adds context, the hike adds awe, but one of them is enough. Question: is the 6.7 km descent to touch the rock worth more than the marble rotunda view from above, or does the arch hit harder from the clifftop?

#easytravelpost Fornalutx is a slate-roof village at 300 m, often called Spain's prettiest, 3 km from Sóller. I walked from Sóller (45 min on the PR-TM 1), arrived at 08:00 in May, the village square empty. The cliff moss is the village's retaining walls: Polytrichum and Fissidens on the slate where the walls weep after rain, Sphagnum in the fountain basin's overflow, and the cliff above the village has Hylocomium in the chestnut woodland—the slate holds moss like a sponge. I sat by the fountain at 08:15, the moss silver, a cat on the wall, the bread van arriving. The village has one ATM, one pharmacy, two kafeneia—cash only under €10. Mistake: I drove into Fornalutx and the streets are 2 m wide—park at the top lot and walk. Another: I came in July and the square was a bus-tour lunch stop; May or Sep for peace. Would you walk Sóller→Fornalutx for the slate-wall moss at 08:00, or drive and park above the village?

#easytravelpost Sóller is a valley town at 50 m, reached by the vintage wooden tram from Port de Sóller (€7 one-way, 25 min) or the TIB bus 204 from Palma (€3.50, 45 min). I took the tram at 08:30 in May, walked the orange groves along the Barranc de Biniaraix. The cliff moss is the grove irrigation channels: Sphagnum and Fissidens in the séquia (Moorish water channel) where the orange roots drink, Hylocomium on the terrace walls, and the cliff above the Biniaraix path has Metzgeria on the seep—the oranges are in season Dec–Mar, but the moss is green year-round. I walked the grove at 09:00, the moss glowing, a bee-eater over the canal, the tram bell in the distance. The groves are private but the path is public; don't pick oranges without asking. Mistake: I came in August and the groves were dry—Apr–May for full flow, Dec–Mar for oranges. Another: I took the tram at 12:00 and it was packed with cruise people; 08:30 or 16:00. Would you tram to Sóller for the orange-grove moss walk at 09:00, or hike the Barranc de Biniaraix from Sóller to Fornalutx?

Chopin said, "I have found my dream Mediterranean." And he never left again. 🛫 Day 1: Palma Cathedral and Old Town 🌅 Arrive in Palma by plane from Barcelona or Madrid early morning (about 1-1.5 hours). Take a taxi straight from the airport to Palma Cathedral (La Seu), a Gothic-style ocean version, with renovations by Gaudí. The cathedral’s rose window is called the "Gothic Eye." At noon, sunlight streams through, casting colorful beams across the hall, like God descending. Next door is the Almudaina Palace, the summer residence of the Kings of Mallorca. 🍽️ At noon, dive into the Olivar Market in the old town, start with fresh oysters and sparkling wine, and share a paella for two. In the afternoon, stroll the cobblestone alleys of the old town, visit the Arab Baths—the only remaining Islamic relic—and enjoy coffee at Plaza Mayor while watching street performers. 🌃 At dusk, head to Bellver Castle, the only circular castle in Europe, perched on a hilltop. Watch the sunset over Palma Bay as the whole city is bathed in golden light. 🌊 Day 2: Northwest Coast - The Most Beautiful Driving Route 🌞 Rent a car in the morning and drive north along the Ma-10 road, one of Europe’s most beautiful coastal roads. First stop: Sóller, where a century-old wooden tram clatters from the port to the town. Valldemossa is the winter village of Chopin and George Sand; his piano remains in the monastery garden. 🍽️ For lunch, dine at C’an Costa next to Chopin’s former home—roast suckling pig and local sweet wine are must-tries. 🌊 In the afternoon, arrive at Formentor, the northwesternmost seaside town on the map. Climb the cliffs to see Sa Foradada, the "Pierced Rock." At sunset, the sun shines through the rock hole, and sailboats draw golden lines on the sea. 🚤 Day 3: Southeast Coast - Jelly Sea and Trendy Beaches 🌞 Head to Colònia de Sant Jordi in the morning, Mallorca’s most rustic seaside town. Take a boat to explore "Turkish Blue" (Caló des Moro), where the jelly-like sea is unrealistically blue. Nearby, "Witch Beach" (Cala Macarella) is surrounded by pine forests with clear water and fine sand. 🍽️ For lunch, enjoy a seafood barbecue on S’Amarador Beach (grilled squid, large shrimp, sardines), sitting on a beach mat with toes buried in the sand. 🌊 In the afternoon, visit Cala Figuera, a cliffside village. The Drach Caves (Coves del Drac) house the world’s largest underground lake, where classical concerts echo underground. Take a small boat through the caves, looking up at stalactites hanging like frozen waterfalls. ⛰️ Day 4: Tramuntana - Ridge Hiking and Farewell 🌞 Hike the Tramuntana Mountains (a World Heritage site) in the morning, starting from Escorca. The ridge trail has snowy peaks on one side and the deep blue Mediterranean on the other. Along the way, see ancient terraces, stone farmhouses, and hear the bells of grazing sheep. 🍽️ Have lunch in Fornalutx, known as Mallorca’s most beautiful village. Stone houses are covered with wisteria, and you can eat Mallorca bread with olive oil and tomato sauce under the old banyan tree in the square. 🌊 In the afternoon, visit the natural salt flats (Salines de Llevant), where salt piles look like snow mountains. At sunset, the salt ponds reflect the sky like a pink-purple magic mirror. Pack the blue, gold, and white of Mallorca into your memory and take it on the plane. ⛺ Must-Do Highlights · Palma Cathedral: Gaudí renovation + Gothic Eye rose window · Ma-10 Road: Most beautiful northwest coastal drive · Valldemossa: Chopin’s winter piano retreat · Caló des Moro: Turkish Blue jelly sea · Drach Caves: Underground lake classical concerts · Tramuntana Hiking: Snowy peaks on one side, sea on the other 🏨 Accommodation: Stay in Palma Old Town (convenient for food and drink) / Northwest Coast (stunning scenery) / Southeast Coast 🚇 Transportation: Flights to Palma from major Spanish cities (1-1.5 hours); strongly recommend renting a car to enjoy the coastal roads; boats can be rented for island beaches 🍽️ Must-Eats: Roast suckling pig, Spanish paella, fresh oysters, sweet wine, Mallorca bread 💡 Tips: Best time is May-June or September-October to avoid crowds in July-August; sunscreen + sunglasses + wide-brimmed hat are Mediterranean essentials; mountain goats cross slower than cars on mountain roads; some beaches require advance booking in July-August 🌟 In Mallorca, the Mediterranean blue is endless. Chopin found his dream, and you find yours. After Mallorca, all other seas feel just okay. Next time, come back when the apricot blossoms fill the valleys~👋

#bucketlistreboot Can Joan located at Carrer de Sant Ramon de Penyafort, 1, 07108 Port de Soller. Open daily from 12 PM to 11PM. Sitting near the table facing the marina that the boats are berthing, the cool breeze blowing toward my face is very enjoyable. I ordered grilled local fish and Copa Sangria Clasica. The cooking took almost 40 minutes maybe it is lunch time. The fish is fresh with tomato sauce on it. Most of the popular restaurants over there are full of people during lunch time. So I suggest you come after the lunch time period, then the wait will be lesser. The atmosphere and environment is nice over the restaurant

This boutique adults-only hotel in the center of Soller is absolutely stunning. We spent 6 nights here and had an unforgettable experience. The booking process was seamless with their excellent website, and upon arrival, we were greeted warmly with a cold glass of cava on the balcony overlooking the pool—an ideal way to unwind. Our room, number 6, was at the top of a gorgeous staircase and ready within 15 minutes of our 1 PM arrival—truly outstanding service. The team, including Matthew, Sophie, and Karen, was exceptional, always friendly, helpful, and engaging, making us feel completely at home in these beautiful surroundings. Breakfast and lunch were delicious, with top-notch flavors and service. Enjoying drinks by the pristine pool throughout the day was a highlight. The pool area and the entire hotel were spotless and well-maintained. Pool beds were always set up daily with fresh towels, creating a tranquil and sunny retreat. The hotel’s décor was impeccable, and our room was lovely with a very comfortable bed, high-quality linens, and spotless cleanliness. It exceeded our expectations in every way for our stay in Soller. You can easily walk to fantastic restaurants nearby, and the staff can arrange a taxi to the port for €13-15 if needed. This hotel truly delivered everything we hoped for and more.

We visited for our Golden Wedding celebration and upgraded to a junior suite, which perfectly met our hopes. The building is breathtaking both inside and out, especially the historic section where we stayed. The staff were all fantastic and friendly. Breakfast was complete with no shortages, and the facilities were spot on. Sunbeds were plentiful, and the grounds offered hidden spots to relax with a drink. The €31pp evening meal featured a buffet for starters and desserts, with a wide selection of mains to order, far better than some average restaurants in nearby Soller. It was a great 8-day stay, followed by 3 days in Palma.

An absolutely wonderful place. The bay with the lighthouse truly set the scene. It’s easy to walk to the center of Puerto de Soller. There are so many lovely restaurants and cafés, along with small, cozy shops. The typical Spanish fishing boats were docked in the harbor, offering a charming sight for tourists. It’s a place I’d happily return to.

We stayed at Hotel Marina for 10 days, as my husband, who had previously visited with his motorbiking friends, was eager for us to experience it together. The hotel itself is stunning—immaculately clean and well-maintained. We had a slightly larger room equipped with a sink, hob, and microwave, which, though unused, was reassuring to have on hand. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were a letdown—hard, foam-like, and very uncomfortable. Even after requesting a replacement, the issue remained. The breakfast was outstanding—healthy and nourishing, while the machine coffee was delightful. However, long queues for fresh orange juice in the mornings were a bit inconvenient. Overall, this hotel is a gem, especially given its excellent location.

Just spent an incredible 4 nights at JS Miramar—it was absolutely lovely. The room was beautiful with stunning views. The food was great with plenty of options to choose from. The location is perfect, just a short walk to numerous bars, restaurants, and a good variety of shops. It’s very convenient to visit Alcudia using the local buses. We enjoyed an amazing trip to Soller by boat, tram, and train—it was a fantastic experience. Additionally, the dolphin trip was extraordinary; we saw so many dolphins, which was unforgettable. All in all, a wonderful hotel and location.

We stayed for four nights at the end of August in a double room with a sea view but no balcony. The room was spacious and lovely, equipped with tea/coffee-making facilities, a mini bar, a safe, and plenty of wardrobe space. The only minor downside was being located beneath the breakfast area, which made it quite noisy in the mornings with chairs moving and footsteps, though it wasn’t a major issue. The bar staff were exceptionally friendly, and Sandra, who worked both in the restaurant and the spa, was particularly lovely. However, one waitress was not very welcoming, which was a shame since the rest of the staff were very accommodating. The pool, located at the back of the hotel, was not very large but offered great views of the port and had very comfortable sunbeds with fresh towels available daily. There’s also an electric stair lift for those who might need it. Breakfast was fantastic, with plenty of freshly made options to order. We’ll definitely be returning next year, though next time we’d opt for a room with a balcony as we missed relaxing and watching the world go by after coming back from the beach.

We stayed here from September 1st to 7th and had a truly lovely experience. The house is newly refurbished, and we were warmly welcomed by Jesús, a friendly and helpful host who provided lots of useful information. The property is small, with only five bedrooms, but it’s authentic and beautifully appointed. It’s also in a great location for exploring Soller. Our room was comfortable, featuring a private terrace with two sunbeds and plenty of storage space. Breakfast was self-service, offering a nice selection of fruits, yogurt, and local produce, including eggs cooked to your preference, alongside excellent coffee. It truly felt like a home away from home! The property also boasts a relaxing garden area that we thoroughly enjoyed. It’s a delightful spot, and I highly recommend this hotel.
