Rating: A very obvious roast chicken restaurant on the way to Zengwen Reservoir. From the outside, it looks like a restaurant that caters to tour groups such as sightseeing buses. Since this trip is coming to an end, I decided to find a restaurant with convenient transportation and no high requirements on taste and characteristics for convenience. Entering the room feels like an indoor buffet.
It’s too hot in southern Taiwan, so when we sat down we went to get the free iced plum juice provided by the store. I don’t know if it was because of the heat, but everyone agreed that it was delicious and not as tasteless as ice water. Roasted chicken is a must-eat on this trip to the mountains and forests.
Turmeric roasted chicken (600 yuan/piece). The chicken is not big, but the skin is very crispy. The chicken legs and wings were of good quality. Of course, the chicken breast is a bit dry and needs to be eaten with chicken sauce. Pepper salt is a bit salty so use it in moderation. The downside of roast chicken is that it must be eaten up as soon as it is served. The taste will change after it gets cold. It is recommended to eat immediately after ordering. The store's plum chicken dish is a soup and the taste is just so-so. It was completely outshined by the cold plum juice drink. The asparagus in plum juice is sour, but the pork ribs in plum juice tastes pretty good. Dongpo pork is fatty. But the sauce goes well with rice. The store also provides free white rice which can be refilled. The texture of the pig intestines is crispy like biscuits. I don’t know if it’s because I didn’t have high expectations! I think Hot Stir Fry performed pretty well! The whole table includes 8 dishes, 1 soup, a roast chicken, and free cold drinks. It only costs 3,000 yuan to feed 12 people. This price/performance ratio is acceptable. When we were leaving, we unexpectedly discovered that the young clerk selling roast chicken at the door looked very much like Xie Hexian.
Overall, it's not a particularly fancy roast chicken restaurant. But the owner is friendly and welcoming, and the dishes are just ordinary farm dishes. The portion is large and the taste is strong, so it goes well with rice. Considering the convenience and cost-effectiveness, it is not worth making a special trip. But it's worth a try if you're passing by.
