#SeoulSuburbs I visited the Bongcheonsa Ant Festival in Mungyeong this year, following last year. Although the admission fee went up to 10,000 won, it was still such a pretty purple wave! I felt that the Ant has really grown compared to last year. I took a picture at the same spot, but this year, it had grown so much that I couldn't see the rock I was sitting on! Last year, there were a lot of people even though I visited on Saturday morning, but this year, I was able to take pictures easily without people because it was a weekday morning. If you want to take pictures comfortably at various photo zones, I definitely recommend a weekday morning, and on the weekend, even though I arrived at 8 am, the parking lot was already full and there were so many people..! 🥺 I visited on September 17th, and there were many flowers that were just starting to bloom, but Ari, who visited on September 22nd, said that they were now completely in full bloom! On Saturday, I was watching a food TV show that I like, and I saw a dish called Mungyeong Dasulgi Sirak Gukbap. I usually like sirak soup, and I saw Noh Sa-yeon drink two bowls in one shot, so I went out and ate it right away🔥 It's a really old restaurant that's shabby and small, but I think it's because of the popularity of Tobap, so a lot of people come on the weekends! I thought it might have a unique smelling of earth, but it wasn't like that at all, and it felt like clear sirak soup? In the summer, it's cool at around 17 degrees, so it's perfect for cooling off from the hot outdoors and enjoying some fun things to do. It's a great summer travel destination! Mungyeong is famous for Omija, but since it's in season in the summer, I bought fresher and tastier Omija concentrate and made some cool ade at home, which was really nice. There are a lot of cute characters on the tunnel walls, so I got really busy taking pictures! Unique cafe 'Kkab' renovated from a cave I heard there was a unique cafe renovated from a cave, so I ran there! Park outside and walk inside. Near Gaeun Bus Terminal A local food that you can only eat in Mungyeong! Joksaljjigae. [Korea Travel Check-in] Hidden Gem for Autumn Foliage Viewing: Mungyeong Korea has many mountainous areas, especially in the central region. If you've ever taken a bus between Seoul and Busan, you'll be impressed by the layers of mountains in between – that's Mungyeong. This area is a transportation hub, but the terrain is steep. In the past, it was a vital route for merchants, and now, thanks to well-preserved forests, it's a great place for Koreans to enjoy the autumn foliage. Whether you're in Seoul or Busan, it takes about two hours to get here by car, so unless you're traveling with a group, driving can be quite tiring. I joined a one-day tour to Mungyeong this time, and I'd like to share the itinerary with you. Three-hour drive to Gomo Mountain Fortress to see the ruins of the local military fortress. Hike to the Omija Theme Tunnel (renovated from an old mine tunnel, mostly artificial paintings, suitable for families with children, requires tickets, not recommended to visit specifically, nor is it recommended to buy any Omija products inside). Take a bus to Mungyeong Saejae Provincial Park. There are many apple stalls along the road, selling varieties like Fuji and Golden Delicious, as well as agricultural product markets where you can buy locally made soy sauce, soybean paste, and Omija rice wine. Nearby, we had a set meal of grilled ginseng and grilled medicinal pork, which are considered local specialties. Hike to the Old Road Museum to see the evolution of various local transportation routes.

I've even uncovered hidden gems cherished by Korean drama directors! 💜 Day 1: Enter Miyazaki's Purple World The Bongjeongsa Temple's aster fields are absolutely the most stunning sight I've seen this year! Three hectares of flowers, personally planted by the head monk, fill the air with a light purple fragrance during their peak bloom in September and October (Key point: This year's Aster Festival opens on September 22nd!). I recommend arriving before 8am. The morning mist, the pavilion, the sea of flowers, and the monks sweeping in their robes—it's like stepping into a scene from Natsume's Book of Friends! 📸 Exclusive photo spot: The giant rock platform behind the temple (search "Bongjeongsa Observatory" on your navigation app). Use a telephoto lens to compress the sense of space and capture an otherworldly image! 🌾 Day 2: A Pink Storm Hidden by Koreans I never expected to find the true pinnacle of pink outside of Jeju Island! The new pink muhly grass park in Singi is truly breathtaking. The walkway design along the Yeonggang River is incredible. When you stand in the middle and take a photo, you're surrounded by waves of pink (a white dress is recommended!). Here's a secret: Shooting in the backlight at 4pm makes your hair glow! ⚠️ Warning: Don't search for the park name directly on your navigation app! Look for the area opposite the "Hanaro Supermarket Mungyeong Nonghyup Main Store." We learned this the hard way after going around in circles three times... 🍖 Day 3: The Restaurant with Insane Lines Cafe Old only serves one dish: fried pork cutlet. How good could it be? Let's just say we arrived at 11am on a working day, and there were already more than 20 Korean ajummas in line! The thick-cut pork cutlets are coated in a secret sauce. When you bite into it, the juices spurt out onto your companion's face (don't ask how I know)... The key is the jalapeños that come with it—they cut through the richness perfectly. For 10,000 won per person, you can eat till you're stuffed! 👨👩👧 Must-see for families: There's a play area for kids on the second floor. Parents can eat while the kids play—I'm impressed by the Korean wisdom of dining with children! 🎎 Day 4: A Cultural Blast from the Past I made my first tea bowl at the Mungyeong Ceramics Museum for 15,000 won! The master craftsman taught me the slab building technique step by step. My hands shook like I had Parkinson's while carving the pattern, but after firing, it actually turned into a work of art (it'll be delivered to my home in three months, super convenient!). Even more amazing was the traditional wood-fired kiln behind the museum. After descending, we headed straight for the Zipline No. 3. My screams still echo in the valley from the 360-meter plunge... 🚗 2025 Latest Transportation Tip: Seoul Dong Station → Mungyeong direct bus (1 bus per hour). I recommend staying at the Mungyeong The Bridge Motel. It's around 200+ won per person, including breakfast, and it's a 10-minute walk to the Jinnamgyo Ban Night Market!
