Fushimi Inari Taisha is one of Kyoto’s most famous Shinto shrines, known for its thousands of vivid vermilion torii gates. The trails wind through the forest of sacred Mount Inari, creating one of Japan’s most iconic sights. 🇯🇵 I visited in the late evening, and it was an amazing experience ❤️. There were hardly any crowds, so I could walk comfortably, take photos 📸, and enjoy the quiet, mystical atmosphere. After dark, the torii gates took on a completely different character. Their bright orange-red color stood out against the darkness, while the lights created beautiful zigzag patterns along the paths. Walking through them felt surreal—almost like stepping into the Black Lodge from Twin Peaks. By the time I reached Kiyomizu-dera, the whole experience felt more like a slow Kyoto walk rather than simply visiting another tourist attraction. I especially liked seeing the temple from the wooden stage and looking across the surrounding hills and rooftops. It's about a 5-minute walk from both Hankyu Omiya Station and Randen Shijo Omiya Station. It’s a very convenient location to use as a base for Kyoto sightseeing. This time I stayed in a twin room 🛏️🛏️. The room was simple and clean. In Kyoto, I’m often out from morning until night, so it was nice to have a place where I could just relax comfortably. The twin type offers two single beds, making it easy to use for trips with friends as well. And one thing I was unexpectedly happy with at this hotel was the breakfast! It’s not a fancy buffet; instead, they provide warm rice porridge and pickles in the morning 🍚. This really suited a Kyoto morning perfectly. Even on the morning after eating plenty of Kyoto gourmet food, the porridge was light and easy to eat. Pairing it with small portions of pickles made it a simple yet delicious meal. The morning porridge is a free service. It’s self-service and is currently available on the 1st floor from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM. There are also coffee machines, water dispensers, microwaves, and a coin laundry in the building, which is convenient for consecutive stays. Amenities were also fully provided.
