The penguins walking slowly and swaying, sometimes rushing into the crowd to gather popularity, sometimes lying on the snow to spread their wings and slide, their cute appearance is lovable.
Actually! Asahiyama Zoo is not just about penguin walks, popular animal stars also include polar bears, red pandas, seals, snowy owls, monkeys, Ezo deer, Ezo brown bears, red-crowned cranes, giraffes... Come to Asahiyama Zoo and see the ecology and behavior of animals that can only be seen in winter! It is recommended to set aside 1 day for a deep interactive tour.

This time we stayed at OMO7 Asahikawa, which is the tallest building in Asahikawa. You can overlook the cityscape of Asahikawa by taking the sightseeing elevator. Entering the hotel is full of surprises. The birch trunks and various Hokkaido animal dolls that come to face make people feel like they have stepped into the nature of Hokkaido. Many small animals are also wearing cute hats to keep out the cold!
☕OMO Cafe&Bar: Super high ceiling, every angle is beautiful and intriguing, there is a feeling of nowhere to put your eyes!! Staying in the snowy Asahikawa, I recommend coming here for a romantic and beautiful parfait at night! The buffet breakfast is invincible and rich, especially recommended are the tuna wasabi rice and salmon waffles!
📚I like to sit in the book tunnel that looks like a loft, holding a healing book of Hokkaido, which is my Happy Hour on the journey!
💧Every night at 8 o'clock there is a lecture on Asahiyama Zoo in the lobby, and different contents will be talked about with different seasons. The welcome drink faucet at the front desk is too cute, the faucet opening ceremony is full, remember to try the corn-flavored welcome drink🌽
♨️Hot spring sauna: The hotel's sauna room is very spacious, and the life of soaking in the hot spring after skiing is too comfortable!! Hot spring + sauna + cold bath + rest, you can follow these several procedures to cycle 3-4 groups, completely relax your body and mind! You can come every day from 15:30 to 24:00 and in the morning from 5:00 to 9:00!

🏂🏻Ski convenience:️ There are many ski guests staying here, so you can see many people polishing and maintaining snowboards in the lobby, and there is information about various surrounding ski resorts next to it.

🌟In winter, Hokkaido is very windy, blowing painfully on the face. The sky is also filled with fluffy snowflakes. Get up early to go to Asahiyama Zoo to see the penguins. They waddle out so cute. There are also furry little raccoons, whose big tails can be used as scarves. Just looking at them makes you feel warm.
🌟Seals or sea lions, I can't tell them apart. They always seem to have a smiling expression, but I can't tell if their eyes are open or closed. Sometimes they swim happily, and sometimes they float quietly on the surface, basking in the sun. They look so relaxed, but I wonder if they're sleeping. I always feel like animals without fur protection must be cold, while animals with fur protection must have cold feet.
🌟In order to get a close look at polar bears, the zoo designed curved glass windows that protrude from the ground. A big brother stuck his head out and took non-stop photos under the bear's butt, which was really funny. But if you want to see brown bears, you still have to go to the Showa Shinzan Bear Ranch, which has 100 purebred Hokkaido brown bears located at the foot of the mountain. The ticket has a picture of a little bear catching fish. The ranch divides the bear areas by age group, and there is food for sale at the entrance. Brown bears are very intelligent, holding onto the iron bars with their paws, their small eyes turning and chattering, especially clever.

Asahiyama Zoo
#winter2022 #asahikawa #asahiyamazoo
The Asahiyama Zoo is a municipal zoo that opened in July 1967 in Asahikawa, Hokkaidō, Japan, and is the northernmost zoo in the country.
Penguins are one of the zoo's most popular animals. You can walk through underwater tunnels as they swim overhead. In winter, everyone waits for the penguin walk, when they waddle along outside of their enclosures in front of the crowd like a tiny army.
Exploring an exotic ‘ecosystem’!
Despite the freezing weather, with the icy wind biting at every inch of my exposed skin, I can say that I had an amazing time at Asahiyama Zoo! I cannot recommend this zoo enough, from its wide variety of enclosures to the insightful information that the zookeepers had shared, especially during the Penguin Feeding Time. Sadly, me and my family had missed the famed Penguin Walk, which is the talk of the town and the only reason that we had ventured to the zoo in the first place. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of fun that I had even without watching cute penguins scuttling around with their webbed feet. Definitely a must-go if you were to visit Asahikawa!

High-quality meat, grilled with stone.
I personally feel that the price is reasonable considering the quality of this meat.
Stone-grilled meat that you can't taste at other restaurants. The meat was delicious and the staff was very friendly, so we had a great time.
May this new year take everyone to places that never been before.

The marching event are held twice daily at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m during December till around mid-March when the snow starts to melt. The penguins are so cute! In Asahikawa, Hokkaido, there is a snow-themed art museum: SnowCrystalMuseum, the museum's architecture uses European medieval style, plus thick white snow, everything is pure white, very suitable for photo punching.
In addition to the beautiful exterior, there are various snow-themed exhibition halls inside. As soon as you walk into the art gallery, you will design a hexagonal spiral staircase along the various snow shapes to enter the world of snow. There are also materials and videos about snowflake knowledge for visitors to watch, as well as auditoriums and banquet halls that can be used for weddings. Weddings here must be both romantic and dreamy.

To Hokkaido in winter, Asahikawa is a must-see. The most famous attraction in Asahikawa is the Asahiyama Zoo. The most popular attraction for the Asahiyama Zoo is the penguin walk. There is one at 11 am every day and one at half past two in the afternoon.
The whole penguin walk is about half an hour. Once you enter the zoo, you can see the place where you can watch the penguins take a walk. It doesn't matter where you line up at the beginning. The penguin keeps going until you get back. Your own "home", follow the pace of the penguin to move your position, you can definitely find a good position to watch and take pictures.
In addition to penguins, Asahiyama Zoo and polar bears, raccoons, deer, giraffes and other animals, watching animals in the snow and ice, is also a special experience.
The decoration in the zoo is very love, the material is photographed everywhere, even the vending machine is also animal-themed, so cute, foul!

In the past, when talking about Japan's most famous zoo, people will naturally mention the Ueno Zoo in Tokyo. Today, when it comes to the most popular, it is the Asahiyama Zoo on the outskirts of Asahikawa, Hokkaido, Japan, the northernmost zoo in Japan. As the Asahiyama Zoo, in addition to a variety of common animals, there are also creatures in the cold northern regions such as seals and polar bears.
Transportation: Take the Asahikawa Electric Rail Bus from Asahikawa Station and arrive at Asahiyama Zoo in 40 minutes. Tickets are 440 yen. The station is on the side of Asahikawa Station. We bought the ticket for the zoo + snow village at the station in advance, 1800 yen, free for children. The zoo opened at 10:30 and counted the time on the road. We went to the station at 9:00, and there were already many people. The 20-minute bus on the Internet was not. When it was full, it was driven away, and then immediately. Connected to the first, the zoo said that it opened at 10:30, in fact 10
Enjoying Flowers Outside the Sake Brewery
Outside the Otoko-yama Sake Brewery, various colors of hydrangeas are planted, including pink, peach, and purple-blue.
I personally like pink, but this time I found the purple-blue hydrangeas to be the most beautiful. Their colors are particularly eye-catching and vibrant.

A Must-Visit for Sake Lovers
I recently visited the Otokoyama Sake Brewery in Hokkaido, and I think it's a great spot for sake enthusiasts.
The brewery has three floors:
1st Floor - Displays a variety of sake and souvenirs, and you can also pay to taste the sake.
2nd Floor - You can see the sake-making process through glass windows and admire the awards that their 'Daiginjo' sake has won over the years.
3rd Floor - There is a small sake museum with videos about sake.

Unexpectedly hot Asahikawa, expected beauty
Taking advantage of the children's summer vacation, we planned to escape Tokyo and go to Asahikawa to avoid the heat. The day before departure, the weather looked cool, and it was indeed so when we got off the plane. Unexpectedly, the temperature soared to 30 degrees in the following days.
But, even so, Asahikawa is still worth a visit!
On the first day, we took the Norokko train to Lavender Farm, walked a few minutes to Tomita Farm, and chased the last acre of lavender in summer.
We had lavender ice cream, melon 🍈 ice cream, and took the kids to check in one tractor 🚜 after another. This check-in point was basically completed ✅
On the second day, we arrived at Biei. After getting off the station, we rented a parent-child bicycle and headed to Shikisai no Oka.
Along the way, we enjoyed a full view of the blue sky and green fields. I can only say that these crops are so well-behaved, looking fluffy and particularly cute.
Shikisai no Oka is also quite beautiful.
For 900 yen, you can ride the sightseeing car and see the alpacas 🦙.
The old man driving the sightseeing car would stop at the best photo spots, giving us plenty of time to take pictures 📸. He really understands the tourists' psychology, haha.
After finishing here, if the weather is not too hot, you can continue to leisurely ride through the fields. Unlike near the airport, there is no smell of cow dung here, and on the undulating roads of the highlands, you can see various different sceneries.
In summary, Biei was our favorite place on this trip.
Later, we also went to Asahiyama Zoo, the cheese factory, and Ningle Terrace. To be honest, the points are too far apart, and for friends who didn't rent a car, it's not worth going.
Finally, besides checking in, enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way!
Asahiyama Zoo
When you arrive in Asahikawa, you can't miss Asahiyama Zoo. We took bus No. 41 from Asahikawa Station directly to Asahiyama Zoo. Bus No. 47 also goes directly to Asahiyama Zoo (from terminal to terminal). The journey takes half an hour, and the fare is 500 yen for adults and 250 yen for children.
After arriving at Asahiyama Zoo, you need to buy zoo tickets, which cost 1000 yen for adults and are free for children. You can get a free guide map of the zoo at the entrance, which is convenient for touring the zoo and avoiding unnecessary detours.
Asahiyama Zoo has several main gates. Since we needed to take the bus back, we could only enter and exit through the same gate.
We visited the zoo on a weekday. There were many Japanese children playing under the organization of their teachers, and many were sketching in the zoo.
Most visitors take photos in front of the time sign at the zoo entrance as a souvenir.
The zoo is not very large but has many animal species. It is designed very humanely, with viewing platforms or windows for both adults and children to watch the animals up close and safely. The cute penguins can only be viewed through glass windows.
There are benches for resting between each animal exhibit, and there are also food vendors inside the zoo. The prices are the same as outside, and you can dine in the rest houses!
In short, when you come to Asahikawa, you must not miss Asahiyama Zoo and be sure to buy some souvenirs to remember your visit!

A Popular Ramen Shop in Asahikawa
I came to Asahikawa City for the first time, so I searched for Asahikawa ramen to eat before leaving and decided to try Ume Koken.
There seems to be a branch at the airport, but the reviews were bad, so I went to the "original store" instead.
Oshibori, water, and disposable chopsticks are self-service.
I thought I should try the soy sauce ramen since I'm in Asahikawa, but I'm not really drawn to soy sauce ramen, so I went for miso instead. I didn't want corn, so I just added a flavored egg.
The miso had a strong garlic flavor, which made me happy.
The char siu wasn't to my taste, maybe not that delicious.
The flavored egg was the best! I'm glad I added it.
The shop closes once at 3 PM and reopens at 5 PM.
