The Enchanting Foot of the Alps: France's Second Largest Freshwater Lake - Lake Annecy
Lake Annecy (Lac d’Annecy) is renowned as the clearest lake in France. The lake's water comes from the melting snow of the Alps, shimmering a bright green under the sunlight. The flowing water runs through the entire town, surrounding the outer meadows. One of the most popular activities for tourists here is boating. You can row a small wooden boat yourself, join a group on a sightseeing boat, or even board a larger cruise ship docked at the other pier. There are many different boating companies along the lakeside, allowing you to sign up and depart immediately. A trip around the lake can take an entire day.
There is also a Lovers' Bridge (Pont des Amours), the busiest and most crowded one. From the bridge, you can see a vast view of Lake Annecy, making it a perfect spot for photography.
It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the train station to the Castle Square. A loop around the old town can be done in an hour, but if you want to take your time, it might take half a day. It's an ideal place for a day trip.
There are many restaurants and shops around. Compared to traditional French cities, they resemble Switzerland more, whether in terms of food, the accent of the French language, or the personality of the residents.
🚴 Transportation: From Geneva: It is recommended to take the Eurolines or Flixbus from Geneva's Gare Routiere bus station, which takes about 45-55 minutes. You can also take a train from Geneva's train station.
Recommendation: Spending about half a day exploring Lake Annecy and its surroundings should be sufficient.
A romantic bridge in Annecy 🇫🇷🫶😍🌁

Pont des Amours can be translated into “Love Bridge” in english. It is indeed a very romantic bridge with love locks, overlooking the Swiss alps. I always question why did I visit with my sister and not my boyfriend 🙄
It is hard to miss Pont des Amours when you are in Annecy because it is along the shores of the lake of Annecy. I went to Annecy with no agenda and barely opened by google maps and I found myself stumbling across this bridge randomly!!

[Europe][France] Annecy: the French Venice
I was recommended by a French to visit this beautiful place and indeed the scenery is spectacular! There are a lot of tourists during the summer and I still recommend visiting this amazing place.
Lake Annecy 😎
Lake Annecy is probably the most famous and visited place in the city of Annecy. Getting there is pretty easy as it is located in downtown and all drivers know where is located or you can stay in nearby hotels. The recommended sightseen time is between one to two hours. Lake’s water has a beautiful light green shade, you might think the pics are photoshopped but this is the real color. Boats are available for rent. If you travel with friends or a family trip with kids then a medium size boat could be a great option to enjoy the lake and keep the kids busy. After the visit, you can also enjoy some shopping or nice food as there are many restaurants and shops around the area.

Annecy has the reputation of "Venice of the Alps" and "Alpine Pearls".
The waters of Annecy come from the alpine snow and rain of the Alps. The town also preserves the scenery of the Middle Ages. Walking through it gradually realizes the existence of time.
Compared to the Austrian town of Ha, Annecy has the unique romantic temperament of the French, it is difficult to make people love.
The small town of Annecy, France, is old and elegant. The blue mountains and the canals that pass through the city, the row upon row, the densely colored houses, and the green trees and flowers on the ground make up the beauty of the paradise, and are rated as one of the six charming towns in the world. There are not only beautiful natural landscapes, but also many well-preserved old buildings. The Old City is a typical European city.
Huihe twists and turns through the entire old town, the riverside old houses are like forests, many buildings were built in the 12th to 17th centuries and have been preserved to this day. The ancient stone roads are still medieval, and most of them are opened as pedestrian streets. The small streets along the river are open-air cafes, souvenir shops, hotels and restaurants, and the flowers in front of the arcades of the buildings and across the river.

Strolling through the medieval Annecy Castle
Annecy Castle (Château d'Annecy) is located in the heart of the old town, built between the 12th and 16th centuries. It was once the residence of the Counts of Geneva and the Dukes of Geneva-Nemours. After several fires, it was abandoned in the 17th century. In 1953, it was purchased and extensively renovated by the city's rulers, and in 1956, it officially became an exhibition venue. Today, the interior of the castle is a museum showcasing Annecy's history, from the Bronze Age, Roman Gaul period, and early Middle Ages, as well as early Savoy and Burgundy folk items and wooden furniture, and landscape paintings from the 18th and 19th centuries.
Annecy Castle features large polygonal walls with beautiful walkways. It consists of the 38-meter-high Queen's Tower, the Vieux Logis with its stone column hall, the mid-18th century Saint Peter's Tower, and the Saint Paul's Tower. At the end of the 14th century, the Nemours family had a watchtower, and in the second half of the 17th century, a homestead, along with the Perrière Tower and homestead. The terrace also offers magnificent views of the old town of Annecy.
The road from the town to Annecy Castle (Château d'Annecy) is a continuous uphill cobblestone path, but it is the highest point in Annecy, offering views of the narrow streets and red brick rooftops of the old town from outside the castle.

Annecy, praised by the writer Hugo as the most beautiful town in France
July 3rd, the sixteenth day of my trip to Europe. Visiting Annecy. Annecy is a small town located on the border of France and Switzerland, with the majestic Alps, the pure white snow-capped mountains, the clear and charming Lake Annecy, the canals running through the town, the closely arranged houses, all embellished with green trees, blooming flowers, and small bridges over flowing water, it's simply a paradise on earth~ Such a beautiful, elegant, peaceful town, not only has the classic French romance but also possesses the quiet sweetness of Switzerland; Lake Annecy, Île des Cygnes, Annecy Castle, the Love Bridge, and the Town Hall are among the most famous tourist attractions in Annecy. The Love Bridge, which is related to Rousseau, is now a popular spot for social media check-ins, located between the lake and the canals. 'No matter how I write, my poetry cannot match the beauty of Annecy,' the French writer Hugo once highly praised. Winter in France: Must-see attractions for the season
Metz (Mets) (Figure 2)
It is the central city of the Lorraine region and the capital of the Moselle province. Located on the road from Rome to Reims, it has been a transportation hub since ancient times. The beautiful city of Metz is a gem of France. It is only a few hours away from Paris by high-speed TGV train and is close to other European countries such as Germany, Luxembourg, and Belgium. Although it is a city worth visiting all year round, many attractions are indoors, making it suitable for sightseeing even in cold weather.
Annecy (Figure 3)
If you travel to France in winter, there is a must-visit place, which is Annecy. Located in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in southeastern France, it is only about 42 kilometers away from Geneva, Switzerland. This destination is full of exciting activities all year round, but winter is the charming season for sightseeing. Surrounded by the French Alps, there are many ski resorts nearby for skiing holidays, including Semnoz ski resort, La Clusaz ski resort, and even Chamonix is not far away. Especially with the dreamy canals and iconic Lake Annecy, the other side of the lake is towering into the clouds. When you stroll along the old town to the lake, there is a thin layer of snow on the ground, which is really great.
Mangtong (Figure 4)
Those who want to spend winter in France without wearing a parka will love Menton. Menton, with its sunny weather, is located near northern Italy and has the most Mediterranean climate in the French Riviera.
Bordeaux
Bordeaux is a complete juxtaposition, managing to combine over 350 historical landmarks (second only to Paris in France) with modern design - some newer buildings and museums are stunning.
Nice
Nice is an excellent destination for French winter holidays. The capital of the French Riviera is a warm and sunny destination in the south of the country, with tourists all year round. Nice is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, with mild winters, and it's not too cold to stroll along the Promenade des Anglais and enjoy an ice cream. February is the Carnival of Nice, with beautiful parades in town. The nearby town of Menton also has a famous Lemon Festival (easy to reach from Nice for a day trip).
Paris
One of the best places to visit in France during winter is the capital city, Paris. Paris is always worth a visit, but in winter, it becomes even more magical! Everywhere you look, there are various decorations and winter activities, adding to the romantic atmosphere of the city - after all, this is Paris! Ice skating at the City Hall or under the Eiffel Tower - these are some of the best choices for a winter date in Paris. In addition, there is a lovely Christmas market along the Seine River and near the Eiffel Tower.
Kolmar
Colmar is an excellent destination for winter holidays in Europe. Colmar is a small town in eastern Alsace, France, famous for its picturesque half-timbered houses and is a must-visit place on the Alsace wine route. The Colmar Christmas market is actually composed of six different markets. They are all located in the old town, so you can easily walk from one market to another. It usually opens from mid-November to the end of December, attracting locals and tourists.
Mont Saint-Michel
Mont Saint-Michel is one of the most popular tourist destinations in France, on par with the Eiffel Tower. This small island is located in Normandy, about an hour's drive from the city of Rennes. Mont Saint-Michel is about one kilometer from the mainland and has only about 50 residents. The only way to get to the island is by walking on a pedestrian bridge, which takes about 40 minutes. A particularly popular destination is the Mont Saint-Michel Abbey, located at the highest point on the island and visible in every photo taken from the outside.
Old town of Annecy, France.
Annecy's ancient city is filled with 17th century buildings, and everywhere along the canals and alleys is a great place to take photos. Every weekend, there is a lively market here, where you can see artists painting on the street and various interesting small shops, attracting tourists from all over the world to stop by.
Magical lake ✨
Annecy is known as the little Venice of France #europe #mountains #lake
Annecy, a small town in the eastern part of France, is known as the beautiful place of the Alpine balcony. It lives in Geneva, more than 40 kilometers away from Annecy, spring, summer, autumn and winter, with guests taking photos every season. The quietest winter.
The Lake Annecy is known as the clearest lake in Europe, and the lake is derived from the melting snow of the Alps. When I first met, my ears echoed, and I said that you are colorful and cute like a fairy tale. Looking at you at the moment, I only feel comfortable and familiar.
Located at the foot of the Alps, Lake Annecy is known as the purest lake in Europe. The lake comes from the alpine snow and rain of the Alps, stretching for 15 kilometers, such as emerald blue and dazzling. Strolling along the shores of Lake Annecy, or swimming in the lake, overlooking the rolling Alps, is a great pleasure in life. Rousseau, the French enlightenment thinker, spent the most beautiful 12 years of his life in Annecy.
France, Annecy
Before coming to Annecy, I was looking forward to Annecy. After that, I fell in love with Annecy
France, Annecy.
Waterscape is the most proud and indispensable landscape in Annecy. The name of this town comes from Lake Annecy. The clear and holy lake water is formed by the melting of snow all year round in the Alps, and the water quality of the lake is the highest in Europe. Surrounded by the Alps, the snow that has not been around for a long time is like a white-headed old man guarding Lake Annecy. The small village is scattered on the shore of the lake. The ancient castle stands on the water's edge.
