Jiaxing Hidden Gem | Beautiful Fengyi Village, a Weekend Getaway for City Dwellers

Jiaxing Hidden Gem | Beautiful Fengyi Village, a Weekend Getaway for City Dwellers

✨ On the way from Shendang to Haiyan City, you will pass by a beautiful new village called Fengyi, which is surrounded by mountains, water, and tea gardens. It is a new popular destination in Haiyan with a lot to offer. There are attractions such as Kuang Keng Moon Lake, Fengshan Mountain, hiking trails, and tea houses. It is more crowded than you might expect on weekends. 👍🏻 There are two things you must do in Fengyi. One is to climb the viewing platform on the hillside, where you can enjoy a wide view and "step on" the pit in the lake. The other is to walk through the 100-meter-long air-raid shelter halfway up the mountain. 📝 Let's talk about the correct order of these two things. Enter from the tea garden road, and you will see a gravel road. Walk along it to the entrance of the air-raid shelter. The other end of the cave is the mountain road. Then go down the mountain and take another fork in the road to the other side of the lake. ▪️ [Walk through the air-raid shelter] This cave was dug in the 1950s for special reasons. There is a Tyrannosaurus rex on the left wall, roaring. After passing through the arched stone gate, you will officially enter the tunnel. The tunnel is about 300 meters long and very bright inside, obviously carefully designed. Especially under the light, it looks like a magical time tunnel. Interestingly, there is green grass growing on both sides of the tunnel where the light shines, which is amazing. ▪️ [Climb the mountain and enjoy the view] In addition to the air-raid shelter, you will see a small stall selling trinkets and snacks. Follow the mountain road on the right to the viewing platform on the top of the mountain. Even if you walk slowly, you can reach the top in 10 minutes. There is a sign that says "I came to Fengyi to step on a pit" and a national flag on the viewing platform. Everyone who comes up will say "wow" to praise the scenery here. You can overlook the whole Fengyi from a 360-degree angle. Looking further, you can also see the beautiful scenery outside the village. There is a plank road under the lake, but it was under maintenance when I went there. There are noodle shops, cafes, and restaurants in the village, so you can have a meal. In addition, there are also homestays here, which can meet the needs of urban people who want to get away from the city and go to the countryside. 🚗 It takes about 30 minutes to drive from Shendang or the county to Fengyi 🅿️ There is a paid parking lot, and you can also park on the roadside

Nanbei Lake 🇨🇳 Zhejiang

A perfect weekend getaway. Nanbei Lake is in Zhejiang, just across the provincial border from Shanghai. The food in the town is delicious and very sweet. There were lots of restaurants and tea houses to visit. Each cluster had its own style and the people in the town were very friendly. When we were there we took the little boat out on the lake and cycled around on the 'chuckle brothers' style tandem. There are lots of hiking trails in the surrounding mountains and new routes were being forged and build in the area. Getting There- from Shanghai we opted to cycle the 130km journey, but a taxi or train and then taxi are options too. This is a spot a little off the beaten track and good opportunity to practice your Chinese #mountainview #lakes

Lesser-Known Attractions Around Shanghai—Shendang

Lesser-Known Attractions Around Shanghai—Shendang

Consider visiting this hidden gem of a town over the weekend to experience its unique charm. Departing from Shanghai, take the high-speed train to Jiaxing South Station, and then a taxi or the K175 bus will get you to Haiyan Shendang🚄. Upon arriving in Shendang, you can first check in at the Victory Hotel, which recreates the scenes from 'Chronicle of a Blood Merchant'📍. Next, head to the Xuangu Hall Café, where you can sit on rattan chairs, enjoy the leisurely time by the river, and take photos📷. Compared to Wuzhen, Shendang is less commercialized and less crowded. The town is small and can be easily explored along the riverbank in about an hour. There are many other places worth visiting in Shendang, such as the Shendang Clock Shop, a 60-year-old establishment that has witnessed the changes of time🕰️. After touring the ancient town, you can navigate to Haiyan Shendang Brewing Co., Ltd. to visit the brewery, learn about the traditional handcrafted techniques of making yellow rice wine and white soy sauce, and experience the traditional intangible cultural heritage🍶. Next to the brewery is the Shendang Granary, transformed from an old grain storage into a cultural and creative park, with ivy-covered walls, a purple flower sea, and a popular photo spot known as Jay Chou's sunny day check-in point🌈. If you're looking to take photos, read books, and enjoy coffee, Geometric BOOKS is a great choice📚. This place is relatively busier and features many elements related to the author Yu Hua. If time allows, you can also take a boat ride under the bridge to tour the Moon River at night, priced at 50 yuan per person, with a guide explaining the sights🛶. In the afternoon, you can return to the city to explore and eat. Visit the Zongzi Culture Museum by the Moon River, where the authentic Zongzi shop offers delicacies like egg yolk meat zongzi. The taro cakes and egg yolk pastries from Gujuzhai are also delicious, and the pastries made by the pastry chef are worth a try🥧. If you want to avoid the crowds and clear your mind, Haiyan Shendang is an excellent choice😉.

Jiaxing Fengyi Scenic Area | Life is about taking a break.

Jiaxing Fengyi Scenic Area | Life is about taking a break.

🌿A new popular spot in Jiaxing, and a AAA-level scenic village in Zhejiang Province. For Jiaxing, which has no mountains, Fengyi's Moon Lake, flower sea, tea mountain, tea garden, air-raid shelter, and mountain-top viewing platform and walkway are great places to relax and take the kids on weekends. ⏰Travel time: About 4 km in total, 108 m above sea level, loop, 3 hours 🔖Difficulty: ⭐️ 📍Location: Search for "Fengyi Scenic Area" on the map. 🅿️Transportation and parking: Self-driving, parking lot, roadside parking, free. Bus, take K213 from Haiyan Bus Station to "Lihe Bridge" stop, walk 1.3 km. 👣Travel route: Moon Lake Square ➡️ Moon Lake Pit ➡️ Fengshan Viewing Platform ➡️ Mountain Tea House ➡️ Cave Exploration (Mine) ➡️ Flower Sea Walkway ➡️ Moon Lake Square 🌈Travel recommendations ✨Moon Lake Pit Moon Lake, formed by a mine pit, is backed by Fengshan Mountain, with green water and mountains, and is a paradise for birds. Because you can see the moon on the water at night, the villagers gave it an elegant name - Moon Lake Pit. ✨Flower Sea A large flower sea on the roadside is stunningly beautiful! There are pavilions in the flower sea where you can rest. The windmill stands among the flowers and is the best photo spot. ✨Mountain Top Platform You must climb the mountain in Fengyi. Walk up the mountain path and feel the thrill of seeing all the mountains at the top. Watching the sunset here is also a good choice. Climb to the top of the mountain and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Fengyi. ✨Cave Exploration (Air-raid Shelter) There is a military tunnel site halfway up Fengshan Mountain, built in the 1950s. At that time, the army was stationed in Fengyi Village all year round and dug this tunnel on Fengshan Mountain, running from south to north through the entire mountain, with a length of more than 300 meters. You can feel the coolness as soon as you enter the cave, which is more comfortable than indoor air conditioning in the hot summer and a great place to escape the heat. ✨Mountain Tea House (Tea Garden) There is a large tea garden by Moon Lake, with houses and an ancient tea factory. The tea garden offers a tea-picking experience, where you can pick tea in Fengshan Tea Garden and experience the fun of being a tea farmer. ✨Sandbar Egret Watching Many egrets inhabit the small sandbar in Moon Lake, which can be seen from the bridge. ✨Flower Sea Walkway Backed by Fengshan Mountain, the flowers have not yet bloomed! But a walkway through the green ocean is also beautiful. ❤️TIPS: ❗️Pay attention to sun protection, and bring sunscreen hats, clothes, sunscreen, sunglasses, and other items. ❗️The sunset on the mountain is also beautiful. ❗️Wear bright clothes for better photos.

Qian Ancestral Hall, Zhongqian Village, Haiyan, Zhejiang

Qian Ancestral Hall, Zhongqian Village, Haiyan, Zhejiang

Qian Ancestral Hall, also known as Yongsi Hall, was built in 1584 during the Ming Dynasty. It was built to honor the ancestors of the Qian family, including the first ancestor Qian Fuyi and his wife, and the ancestor He Guisi and his wife. It was rebuilt in 1708 during the Qing Dynasty. It is the main ancestral hall of the descendants of King Qian Liu of Wuyue in Haiyan. In the 20th century, it was used as a granary. The ancestral hall faces Zhongqian Port, with a stone wharf in front and stone revetments on both sides. It covers an area of about 1,700 square meters, with a building area of more than 670 square meters. The ancestral hall is divided into east and west courtyards, separated by a corridor and surrounded by high walls. The building faces south, with three rooms, all of which are brick and wood structures. The house is tall, with a combination of beam-lifting and through-beam structures. The floor is paved with golden bricks, and the roof is a hard mountain roof with yin-yang tiles. The west courtyard is divided into two parts, front and back. The front hall is a row hall, and the back hall is a sacrificial hall. The ground in the garden is paved with granite slabs. There is a round arched door on each of the east and west walls of the front courtyard, and a pair of bluestone lions on the left and right sides of the front hall door. The middle courtyard is divided into two parts, north and south, by a corridor. The west corridor is close to the garden wall, and the east corridor is connected to the east courtyard. The imperial stele of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, which was given to Qian Yingpu, the 30th grandson of Qian Liu and Minister of Works, is placed in the middle courtyard. The back hall is made of large materials and decorated with exquisite components. There is a small patio behind the hall. The side hall of the east courtyard is a flower hall, with a garden in front, a pond, a hexagonal pavilion, and rockery in the garden. It is a key cultural relic protection unit in Zhejiang Province.

The most suitable hotel for business travelers: Xiaozhi is absolutely top-notch!

The most suitable hotel for business travelers: Xiaozhi is absolutely top-notch!

||I really stand by this Holiday Inn Express in Haiyan County! If I tell you that the most profitable brand for InterContinental Hotels Group each year is hix, don't think I'm joking. This brand is almost everywhere unless it's a place where birds don't even poop, and let me count the ways it's friendly to business travelers for you: 1 Price: Not many companies have the standard of Marriott or Hyatt, and without arguing, you can basically settle it within 500, and when I say settle, it also includes the 'points package' unique to InterContinental, which buddies who play with InterContinental understand! 2 Accommodation conditions and environment: We're not talking about luxury or high-end, but as long as it's clean and tidy (dry and hygienic) there's basically no problem, with a welcome drink to pass the time, and a simple room upgrade can make for a very comfortable stay. The choice of pillows, both soft and firm, can also satisfy almost all weary business travelers 3 Breakfast: I think this is the first point that sets it apart from the old state-owned domestic groups. Taking this Haiyan one as an example, there are noodles, dumplings, and the dishes are comfortably arranged. Some have the arrangement of the 70s and 80s big canteens, with some dishes that are dull and oily floors or tables, which really don't whet the appetite. Holiday Inn Express isn't high-end, but at least it feels comfortable. 4 Small investment, big return: This is where hix has the biggest advantage over domestic brands. Simply put, business travelers who suffer through most of the year might be able to use their points for their families to experience stays at InterContinental in Sanya Haitang Bay, or even Tokyo Bay, Bangkok, Paris, Madrid, during the peak travel season, genuinely saving money and enjoying. But domestically? Are you supposed to accumulate a bunch of points from staying in Shanghai's All Seasons to exchange for a stay in Lijiang's All Seasons?
